Does this word exist in arabic (in which I assume Koran is written) and if so does it appear in Koran?
Re: The term Religion in Holy Koran
The word Deen is used in Quran, which loosely translates into Religion.; whereas, Deen in its full context has religion as one part of it.
Re: The term Religion in Holy Koran
^ I agree totally. There is no mention of the word "Religion" in Quran, it is mentioned as "DEEN" (A complete code of life) as my above poster has explained :)
Islam is not just a mixture of few rituals and set of beliefs. It is not limited to the extent of cetain rituals, beliefs or to the personal life of a person.
Islam has a complete application on the individual and collective life of Muslims, when it is called a DEEN. Islam has a complete politico-socio-economic system.....

"Deen" is closer to "way" than "organized religion" ..
the only other word that comes close to "religion" is شِيَعًا from 30:32
