The survival of Pakistan depends on this...

Jinnah wanted Pakistan to be identified as a secular nation, with religion and politics seperate.

Others demand Pakistan should be an Islamic state (eg like Saudi Arabia), with Sharia laws, strict adherance to all things in the quran.

Till this question is not settled, Pakistan will continue to destroy itself.

Re: The survival of Pakistan depends on this...

^mind it that religion and politics cannot be a seperate issue. politics must be under the rules of religion.

Re: The survival of Pakistan depends on this...

Survival of Pakistan depends upon.. what Pakistani people want!!

So far what could be noticed easily is

(a) Pakistani people opted for electing a PPP govt, their getting the fruit now.

(b) Pakistani people (most if not all) have a soft corner towards the taliban and others religious factions, they are facing its outcome as well. First common people, then sports teams, then celebrities/politicians, and now army bases are even not secure from them.

(c) People are ok with a society where most of the us would settle matters with "chai paani", the corruption is never going to end like this.

(d) People are still backing up foolish political parties and they are cropping the same. For example, those who are very happy in Karachi with MQM will keep on facing issues like Target killing, Bhatta khori etc.

And so on and so forth.

So in the end of the day its the people in the country who'll decide which route they are going to take. :)

Learn from an Indian what Pakistan actually needs :hehe: :k:

Re: The survival of Pakistan depends on this...

Pakistanis are not in a mood to learn any lessons yet, please come back with your advice later :)

Re: The survival of Pakistan depends on this...

This is the main problem - whether anyone wants to address it or not, is up to Pakistani's. I think Pakistan has to make a clear choice.

I prefer a 'Secular' country, but seeing that the 'moderates' have done nothing for Pakistan, maybe it will be better for the country to become 'totally' islamic, in the true sense.

Perhaps that will stop the internal strife and unstability.

Re: The survival of Pakistan depends on this...

I don't think the survival of Pakistan is under any question; it certainly is not dependent upon any one question.

Wanting to be a Islamic religious state or secular is important for some sections of the people but not of any criticality.

What is important is a complete open and meaningful renunciation of all collaboration with terrorists, a simple and active approach to catching and bringing all terrorists to justice.

Re: The survival of Pakistan depends on this...

A small minority of people in every muslim country want sharia law and they will never be conviced otherwise. This is not what Pakistan,s problem is.
