Re: the stroller, the travel system, the car seat..
LOL sgc.. I saw that but it was $400+.. I am loving the Kiwi color for Peg Perego Pliko P3.. so if we bought one, that color will be it!!
I saw Zippy this morning and was totally in love but the color choices were kind of dull.
Spiral.. I was about to send you a PM.. do you know if the Babies R us in NYC carries Peg Perego so I can try them out.. we dont have any plans to go to NY yet but I remember you mentioned that Babies R us there has a full floor of strollers and such so we may just drop by, test out the strollers, eat some desi food and head home :-D
I think you guys are right in terms of using the stroller a lot more than I am thinking.. I dunno why but I never liked strollers, something there doesnt attract me but I am hoping a light weight, cool color stroller will probably help me like strollers!! (talk about being superficial but thats the only thing where I am counting the looks as well).
Sahar.. go for it.. you deserve that much and more ;-)
You can go to their flagship store at Union Square. There is a huge variety of everything. If I am not wrong, they have pretty much everything in that store that they sell online or at least the more expensive items.... They were out of the car seat I picked but they called another store and told them to hold it for me. That store is close to my house so it wasn't an issue. I had a good time looking at cute stuff there. I ended up buying a lot of other things i needed... bottles, bottle brushes, boppy etc.
Re: the stroller, the travel system, the car seat..
I can totally sympathize with you.I was as confused as what to get when I had to (I did start a thread at that time too). The stroller and carseat was actually the last thing we purchased because I was not able to make up my mind.
I have a graco travel system and it has been good this far.
I will never underestimate the importance of a stroller.I used it right from the beginning.I had to take her to her pediatrician in the beginning quite a few times and husband was almost always at work and it was not possible for me to carry the car seat after the C section.
I loved the snap and go thingy but decided not to buy it because I knew it wont be used once she outgrew her infant car seat in a year or so and also because we are kinda short of storage space.Even though it was the easier and lighter option,I got the travel system which was the heavier of the two and used to snap her car seat on her stroller .It worked well for me.
When she was about 9-10 mths old I started to take her out of the car seat and put her directly in the stroller because the car seat was getting too heavy for me to carry. It will eventually become heavy for your husband as well…(if you are planning on making him carrying it all the time…:p)
Strollers also allow you to keep everything on there…like your cell phone, keys or handbag and the diaper bag…it is so convenient…:D…hehhehe
In the end,I wish you good luck in deciding. It is one heck of a tough choice…
Re: the stroller, the travel system, the car seat..
If you're planning to get the carseat carrier/snap-n-go you can wait on a stroller. But otherwise, definitely get one! We didn't get ours till Bunny was 3 months, right as Spring appeared.
Re: the stroller, the travel system, the car seat..
and we made another trip to Babies R us and spent two hours in the stroller section!!! but did that help? NO
How did people raise babies when there were no strollers.. beyond my imagination :-(
We may just end up with the travel system... but for now, I am not buying anything.. probably husband can go and get the travel system when we will have to bring the baby home from hospital.. at least then it will have to be done right there and then!!!
Peg Perego is out of luck because husband didnt even like the look of it.. I had it on my laptop when he came home and his response was.. "our baby isn't sitting in THAT thing even if it's free" there was no point for sharing the price.. I ownder if teh color kiwi killed it!!!
Re: the stroller, the travel system, the car seat..
I cant decide either but really must as don't have much more time to dither on the issue.
I'm leaning towards a travel system ... certainly sounds convenient.
chicco vs britax vs peg perego???????? haven't a clue. Haven't found much info on peg perego ...
any other thoughts ... advise to help me decide??? plzzzz
Re: the stroller, the travel system, the car seat..
we are getting the chicco keyfit 30 car seat with snap and go... we will buy stroller when needed!!!
i didnt seee many reviews for peg perego and my husband has to literally read about 100 reviews before deciding anything so that was out of choices!!
I wanted britax Marathon 70 initially but then sahar told me thats it's not the type of carseat that can function as a carrier or be easily moved from one car to another.. so we thought we will stick to chicco for now!!
Re: the stroller, the travel system, the car seat..
Sounds good, GTG! The only other thing is to consider getting a stroller that also works as a carrier. But I think what you've done makes sense, cuz you can get to know your baby and figure out what works best for him.

yeah, i definitely want a Britax too for when Bean outgrows his Graco Snugride 35. its one of the safest car seats around and i think its meant for taller babies too.
the Chicco and Snap and Go are a great combination, GTG! being able to snap him in and out of the car seat frame and on to the stroller is the BEST thing, i swear. he keeps sleeping, it takes two seconds and off we go on to whatever activities we're up to. car seats are very secure which is great but the 5 point harness is not easy to do and re-do when they're in the car and the thought of lifting him up and out of it while he's asleep to strap him into the stroller seat is ridiculous. you will find the snap and go very handy!
www.babygizmo.com has great reviews, including video reviews, of most strollers. i found the video ones the handiest because they show you how to fold/unfold, adjust the seat, etc. and you can actually see the stroller better than in a picture of it. do a search on the site for the strollers you are interested in, ehl. its super helpful!
Re: the stroller, the travel system, the car seat..
As far as the travel system for car seats are concerned it comes with both the merits and demerits. The positive side of this system is that you can easily move your baby from your car to the push chair without even waking her up. Secondly, it gives you one of the most convenient option for buying the pushchair, carrycot, car seat at just one go and lastly your baby would be facing you always while being in the push chair. At the same time this system has some downsides as well. You are supposed to buy another car seat in the next 9-12 months the moment you see your baby crossing the 10 kgs of weight. The system can be a bit tricky to fit inside your car seat to the push chair chassis over certain models. Make sure you check this before you buy the system.
