Just got to show, again without hadith, sometime Quran cannot be understood. Especially the story behind those verses.

Re: The Story of the Boy and the King (from Surah Burooj)

The story I heard about the Mother who is mentioned in this story you posted is little different. I am not saying who is wrong or who is right but the way I heard the story goes like this…

This mother was one of the servant of the king and when the king found out about this mother that she has changed her religion, he[the king] order to throw the mother and her 2 children in a hot boiling oil. One of the child was still being breast fed. So they brought the mother to the place where they had this hot boiling oil in some big container. They asked the mother if she give up her religion or else her children will be thrown into that hot boiling oil. She refused and they threw one of her son into the oil, the mother cried. The boy died and ONLY the mother saw her child soul flying towards the sky and telling the mother…“mother don’t you worry we will meet in paradise but just be patience”.

So the king asked the mother again if you give up your religion I will not throw your 2nd child who could not even talk. The mother refused, they threw her child in the hot boiling oil, the mother cried again and felt like she is dead, again ONLY the mother saw her child’s soul flying towards the sky and telling the mother…“mother don’t you worry we will meet in paradise but just be patience”.

Finally they threw the mother as well and they all died.

One of my friend brought me a cassette from Pakistan it had some good speaches of well known scholar. While listening the cassette one of the scholar talked about this same story and he mentioned something about that when Prophet Muhammed :saw: went to the journy to visit Allah :swt: [Miraj] he Prophet Muhammad :saw: saw this mother and her kids in the Paradise. :subhan:

Ironically today in the Friday sermon the Imam told the same story. He used the word an old man instead of saying a Monk. I was confused as well I read the story above…Monk huh

Re: The Story of the Boy and the King (from Surah Burooj)

I heard the same that it was an old man, but he had separated himself from rest of the country to worship ONE God and that’s why the word “monk” is used for him.
