Re: The small naan and roti shops ..

It depends if its only naan and roti shop mostly if its a restaurant they earn good money they sell around 100 rotis a day depends on the business of each day

Re: The small naan and roti shops ..

how much is their kharcha and how much is their profit? and how much do the guys working there earn per day or per month ....

Re: The small naan and roti shops ..

if they already built a tandoor, then they should sell kababs too for better margins

Re: The small naan and roti shops ..

No but realistically speaking in these small roti /naan shops they sell just roti and naan .. so that is the only product through which they are making money. I am really keen to know how much they make ..

Re: The small naan and roti shops ..

Yes and then since people will get bored by one item on the menu therefore they need to add variety to the menu. Adding some kheer, sheer for desssert and some soda shoda and lassi shassi can really put them on the path to prosperity. Getting a diploma or degree from a business school can help them turn this small tandoor into a big business empire.
I wonder why don’t these folks have half a brain to think before they leap into such a cut throat business.
:hmmm:

Re: The small naan and roti shops ..

Ok when I used to live in dubai , it was a common concept there where we could conveniently get roti's or naan's from a nearby pathaan ki dukaan .. they used to have tiny little shops with 3-4 men there and there would be a line up of people waiting to buy roti's .. It wasnt anything fancy at all.

I saw similar shops in lahore too .. they dont exist here in the UK , I dont know about other places.. but just clarifying what I am refering to , so you guys know exactly what I am trying to get at.

My calculation tells me its really hard to make a decent amount of money in such shops but they are quite popular in dubai and hence the question if anyone knows how much they earn in a daily wage ..

Re: The small naan and roti shops ..

You must be a consultant..

Re: The small naan and roti shops ..

Think such businesses are volume based. Pretty sure he didn't have 3-4 guys working for him when he started. You bring them in as the demand ramps up. Also, such businesses succeed or fail based on local laws. The cost of compliance here in the US adds quite a bit of overhead for such a business and are less likely to succeed.

Re: The small naan and roti shops ..

Yes I was a management consultant in last century.

Re: The small naan and roti shops ..

11 posts, and not a single joke about round rotis.

Re: The small naan and roti shops ..

Roti is round and Pi are square :clown:

now you have your roti joke and learn math to boot!

Re: The small naan and roti shops ..

If that is the primary business of that establishment, and they are only serving to individuals (and not to restaurants and such) then I see no profit potential.

How much do they charge per naan, in your experience?

Re: The small naan and roti shops ..

The setup cost is minimal. Running expenses would include, labor cost (daily wages), utility bills (electricity and gas), raw material cost (Flour, salt, oil/ghee etc). Now all the running expenses are actually correlated to sales. If it wasn't a profitable model, I am sure we wouldn't see them all across different cities.
