Islamabad bhai jaan…
With due respect, when you snap out of your wonderful dream world, lets continue the discussion on Urdu language. I see you may have some good ideas there. You just need to focus. :k:

.. or having Benazir saheba or Nawaz Shareef saheb leading the entire muslim ummah! I don't know about you dude, but I think we need to work a lot to produce good leaders for ourselves first.
[/QUOTE]
I completely agree! Our leaders didn't even have the vision to lead Pakistan properly. If we look high and think in a bigger way, I think our leaders (maybe different ones) would be able to do it with the help of Allah. Who knows, these very leaders end up doing something good. This could happen if we have the nation prepared. If the nation has such ideas instead of being pessimistic, this vision would transfer to the leaders. I think Musharraf is doing a good job! We have such forward looking people in our country. Its just that they are hidden. I personally also believe that Pakistanis have matured a lot in last 10 years. We have started (atkeast started) thinking differently. This forum is one example. It is a constant process of learning. We are all gaining from each other's ideas, and it will InshaAllah lead to something positive for Pakistan. Pessimism is a sin.
Ok lets focus on Urdu! ![]()

Saudi society also has many positive points! I am not mixing the Holy sites with anything. The thing is that no matter how bad their society is (we also have many bad things in our society) they are still our Muslim brothers. If your brother goes estray you just don't leave him.

OK guys chill, every nation has its own language no big deal. I think urdu suits Pakistan, it fits it perfectly, however, Pakistanis learning and speaking arabic is cool, like they would any other lang. Arabic is the lang of the Quran yes thats correct, however no arab nation today speaks that kind of arabic, and I am sure that are many Arabic speaking people who don't understand the Quran themself.
I think Arabic is a great lang, so are many others. I honestly love Farsi and Urdu, which I am learning now.
you see Faisal that urdu I can read, but when its written its soo flowy and I have a hard time reading it at times, only b/c I learned arabic in the arabic way.

I agree with you on both of the points, though it’s always about the "national language, or unity" thing that has been brought up. I noticed in Pakistan that Punjabi movies are very well made, though little efforts are made on Urdu films (until recently that film "Pyar he pyar main" was released). Everyone loves their mother tongue, so there is no fault in Punjabis to show more affection towards theirs. When MMA decided to make Urdu the official language of NWFP (where it is not as common as it is in Punjab), the government of Punjab showed its resentment because they can/would be ridiculed for not doing the same.
I don’t know if it’s a conspiracy or not, at least I hope not, though Urdu will always live as long as it is enforced on others. Pakistan has many other beautiful languages which are also on the verge of extinction; it’s the governments responsibility to preserve these languages because it’s not only the people that speak these languages heritage but also Pakistans heritage.

tanzeem i islami can do one thing, but tanzim i islami does not support urdu songs, plays, dramas either. anyways if tanzim i islami is affiliated with jamat e islami, and jamat e islami is part of MMA, which was elected by people of NWFP...maybe they should have voted for somoene else.
maybe peshawar TV stations should start supporting pushto by developing programs for its pushto audience more.

Some info I wanted to share!
In our country where less than 5% of the population speaks English, language is the biggest barrier to computer literacy. In real terms it means that out of 140 million Pakistanis, 133 millions Pakistanis are totally denied access to computers mainly, because they do not speak and read English. The time has come to let people know about the possibilities that exist in opening up computers to a massive audience, or localizing information technology.
Internet is the best medium for distributing information
So it is natural that Urdu content be created for Internet.
Now a question arise that if availability of Urdu content in the Internet has so advantages, why there are little or no content available?
People using computers normally know English language and English contents are available. People who do not know English are not using computers as no Urdu contents are available.
It is a chicken and egg situation. Some one has to break the ice and provide Urdu content.
Publishing to the Web
Now if someone wants to publish an Urdu website, he needs software tools to create one.
People have used scanned images to create websites in Urdu. This is not a good solution as graphic files are big in size and slow to download. No searching can be done in graphics.
Some Naskh fonts are available but creating a website using them is a problem and no formatting can be done.
Urdu Nastaleeq is a complex writing system and no typewriter exits even after hundred years of efforts.
Urdu Nastaleeq Script
Only Urdu fonts are not sufficient and a script joining and rendering algorithm is required.
A single alphabet may have up-to 20 shapes depending upon the alphabets coming before or after it.
Standardization of Urdu
No standards for Urdu digital storage (encoding) or Urdu keyboard for computers.
Muqtadra Qaumi Zaban along with private sector is in the process of making a standard for Urdu encoding and Urdu keyboard layout.
Unicode, an upcoming extended version of ASCII that includes all writing systems of the world including Urdu.

good idea, maybe next time ppl of NWFP will elect someone else if the MMA folks seem to not care too much for that pakhtoon heritage.
