the 6 kalimas r of no religious significance (as far as Islam is concerned)....
no one knows of them outside the indo-pak territories....
wonder who 'invented' them and how they became so important....

I think he is pointing out the whole concept of 6 kalima’s. Offcourse not the Kalima-e-Shadat. That comment was just

None of my Turkish or Middle Eastern friends have heard of the Kalimas.
I think it’s due to Hindu influence, they had a lot of mantras of their own so the Muslims of the Sub-Continent probably made up the six Kalima’s summarising our beliefs so that we can chant them.
It’s ridiculous though because most people who read them have no idea what they are saying because they don’t speak Arabic.
Only Kalima-e-Tayyib or Shahaadat is proven from authentic sources. We just need to read that and believe in what it says, it summarises all our beliefs perfectly.

when i say that reading Quran when someone dies (i.e. the fateha and gayaarween and chaaliswaan that is common practice in india & pakistan) has no place in Islam....
it means, by no way, that reading Quran has no place in Islam....
