I for one dont want to take the chance, just give me the 6 billion, or better yet, feed some hungry people!
This thing has a possibility (quite low) to create a rip in space itself causing a black hole that will destroy the earth and the surrounding orbital bodies.

Black hole is a rip in space, we know that because a star when it collapses within itself creates a rip in space where light bends and gets absorbed into it.
This machine has similar capabilities, to create a rip in space.
come to think of it the only way the earth will cease to exist is when qayamat is brought upon it, so do what you will, its not going anywhere unless Allah has destined it to and if this strange looking machine is to be instrumental in bringing it about then there isn't much anyone can do about it.
GRRRRR... FIX THE DAMN New York City TRANSIT SYSTEM FIRST. bloody F train breaks down everytime it rains. makes you STOP believing in evolution altogether.
The human race can still possibly exist without the earth. So i think its wrong to assume that the day the earth destroyed = qayamat.
But to create the same conditions as there were less than a billionth of a second after the big bang, that is something! (ps. i do believe in the big bang as i feel it is very insync with creation as we know it through islam).
Waisay theres already a 6 km radius collider just outside chicago. That hasnt done much harm.. would a 27 km collider be that much more dangerous?
I will be against this project...Who knows what devastation this project will cause. I highly highly doubt it that they would be able to create black hole.
u mean the few astronauts not on earth at the time its sucked in can set up camp in mars or something?
Lol.. well if the earth does get sucked in, it will take with itself the rest of the solar system and God knows what else with it. So no camp day at mars for those astronauts either.
What i meant was theres no guarantee that there arent other (possibly human) lifeforms in the universe. We humans tend to always think self centredly. First it was the earth is square and we're on the safer side. Then it was the sun and the universe revolves around us. And now that we're the only intelligent beings in the universe. Even if one was to believe the theories of evolution regarding life, theres plenty of chances life exists in atleast one or more of the several billion billion other galaxies.

I'm totally in support of this experiment. I know the finances involved are huge but that is always the case in ambitious scientific endeavors (we spend tonnes more in space travel). The experiment sounds extremely interesting to me.
