The situation of the muslim ummah today

Assalamu Alaykum,

A long time ago, an experiment was conducted on 5 monkeys. This experiment became a foundation upon which numerous countries’ based their foreign policies. The experiment was as follows:

5 monkeys were placed in a cage. Inside the cage, a step ladder was set up. At the top of the ladder, a banana was hung from the top of the cage, just high enough for one of the monkeys to reach if he climbed it.

Inevitably, one of the monkeys realised that they could use the ladder to reach the banana. When that monkey began climbing the ladder, the scientists conducting the experiment sprayed freezing cold water on all the monkeys. This caused all the monkeys to scream and caused that monkey to jump off the ladder, without the banana. After a little while, another monkey gained the courage to attempt to get the banana. Again, freezing cold water was sprayed on all the monkey, forcing the monkey to come back down and causing the other monkeys to scream out of pain. After doing this a number of times, something interesting occured. This time, whenever a monkey tried to climb the ladder, all the monkeys on the floor began attacking him; hitting and punching him down. This continued to happen over and over.

Then the scientists took one of the monkeys in the cage out, and replaced him with a fresh monkey, untouched by the freezing water. Needless to say, he was the first to try to climb the ladder. Again, all the monkeys began attacking him, trying to escape being sprayed again. He continued to attempt to get the banana until he gave up due to the beatings he recieved.

The scientists then, again, removed another monkey, replacing him with a fresh one. The exact same thing happened, only the last monkey put in the cage, who has never been sprayed, joined in. This kept on happening until the second monkey gave up due to the beatings.

The scientists continued to replace the monkeys one by one until all of them were replaced. This meant that NONE of them were ever sprayed, BUT they always beat anyone who tried to climb the ladder.

The question that presents itself is, why do they continue to attack? None of the monkeys actually know, but they continue to do it. Now think about this:

Why do we support our countries, its borders, its flags, and the people living within those borders?

Why do we not stand up to our rulers and either force them to implement Islam, or remove them and implement it ourselves?

Why do we look up to the West, when their values are Kufr, they have little or no manners, no family values, no respect for women, no obedience to Allah and would go destroy other peoples home, never even trying to find out why are they doing this?

The answer to these questions all lie in the 5 monkeys experiment.

Did we ever ask ourselves why we defend our flag? Why we sing our “national anthems”? Why we celebrate our “independence” days? Why we sit quiet, while our rulers implement Kufr and only turn the armies on us? And why we see the West as better?

The West looks at us like a land full of monkeys sitting on a mountain of gold. Who cares if a few monkeys are killed in order to get to that gold? If you need to beat one monkey to death for standing up for itself in order to get the other monkeys to fear doing the same, then, by all means, go ahead!

Isn’t it time we think before we accept what we are taught?

Of the 1.2 billion Muslims in the world, roughly 450 million live in South Asia and another 200 million live in Indonesia. When Arabs under their various flags and boundaries will start considering Kashmir as important as Palestine, and apologise to Indonesia for not even trying to help negotiate in East Timor, then this monkey will be interested in finding out more. Till then this monkey considers propoganda from learned and educated people like yourself as banal and worth gathering my fellow monkeys to provide someone a thrashing.

I dont believe you're understanding what he's saying. He's saying we need to punish and oppose the fundoos.

Why do u want the Arabs to consider kashmir as important as Palastine ? Because end of the day our reference point as muslims is the Quran and Sunnah and not this group or that group of people. Palastine and kashmir are just as important from the islamic viewpoint, which is that they are both muslim land which has been occupied by non-muslims and needs to be liberated by an Islamic army which only obeys Allah and not musharaff or arafat, both of whom are self confessed traitors to the Islamic cause.

Pakistan is in trouble these days, and it is going to take a lot of luck and hard work to get it out of the mess it finds itself. For Pakistanis it should be PAKISTAN FIRST right now. Chasing the mirage of a united Ummha is all right if Pakistanis do it following from the rear, and not charging from the front. Let those countries that are better equipped to lead the charge from the front do so. Khalifa, or whatever form of Pan-Islam system you have in mind...I am all for it in theory, but again for Pakistan's sake I don't want to lead the action. And hence as I said, it would be nice if the esteemed guests who are wanting to pick a fight with the west would pack up and leave Pakistan to sort out its own Problems right now.

Old Lahori I agree.

Mush is not bending to the will of USA, etc. He's got no choice in the matter. At least he's getting something out of it. What could the arab states possibly give to pakistan other than terrorism?

In my view, the muslim ummah is united in one thing: hatred of Israel... albeit in varying degrees. I find it quite ironic, and even perplexing, that a relgious group is united by hate in this way.

Most are also united in a sort of "strong dislike" for the USA. Interestingly, they also strongly admire America for all it has to offer. This is reconciled by directing their anger at the US gov't and "not the American people" they say, "we like them." No one seems to understand the simple fact that it is the gov't (and their governing policies) that ensures the peace and prosperity of america's citizens.

Stu, I'd like point out a similar hypocrisy in your and your government's stance (I add the latter because of your own argument).

The States waged the war in Afghanistan and wiped out many a civilians through a variety of tools ranging from "friendly fire" to "accidental" fire to "collateral damage". However, all along they were "friends of the Afghan people" but it was only the bad, bad Taliban that they wanted to punish.

So, if you can continue with that hypocrisy why can't we have our own little fallacy?

Stu: It is strange that a ‘nation’ of over a billion should hate a group of less then 14 million. Historians will argue no end as to how that was possible. You may want to check out an article by Asad Zaidi “Of evil zionists and great satan” at www.chowk.com. He is an american in the San Francisco area, and he states the problem quite well.
