see thats the problem....for sum ppl working in a movie has become a taboo that they're all about drugs sex and naach gaana. it doesnt always have 2 be like that. JJ working in a drama type movie wont hurt at all.

i think this movie will be in guninees book for the film which took so much time in relaesing.

We used to be child when elders used to tell us that shoiab mansoor is making a movie and that will be mega hit. :lamba sans kheench kay chooring:

That really depends how you look at it. Given their obsolete resources, they have made some good stuff for which the Lahore film folks ought to be lauded. And some really good stuff HAS been made. The cynics will tell you otherwise.

The movie Shoaib Mansoor is making is not traditional Lollywood stuff i.e it does have the element of music in it, but no “heroines dancing and having fun” according to him. So it will be cool.

What remains to be seen is whether he’ll be able to attract in the audiences tothe cinemas. For that the element of song (and maybe some dance) has to be there, I doubt the masses will just come in seeing SHoaib Mansoor’s name and the movie turns out to be an “art” flick.

I really, really want this film to work and I hope he incorporates elements of traditional cinema in his own sophisticated way that the message is not lost. I hope he isn’t making some boring art house flick!

Here is a brief synopsis I found on a Shoaib Mansoor Fan community.

*"The film is a unique third world country independent feature film being directed by one of Pakistan's top television and music video directors, Shoaib Mansoor. It is entitled 'Khuda Ke Liye', the English title being 'In the Name of God'.

The film intends to bridge the existing gap between the western and Muslim world. It is pre-911. It is a story of two brothers, Mansoor and Sarmud. The younger one, Sarmud, is lured into extremist thinking by a group of radicals who exploit and brainwash him. Mansoor goes to U.S.A. to pursue education where he meets Janie. She wants the relationship to be permanent but he is apprehensive. Mansoor and Sarmud's uncle who is living abroad cannot accept his daughter’s approach towards life and brings her to Pakistan where she is forced into a marriage in a tribal village and abandoned.

After 9-11 Mansoor is suspected as a terrorist because of his brother and stays under interrogation for months.
There is another turn around in Surmad’s life but now there is no going back for him. Mansoor stays in lockup till he finally loses his mind.

The essence of the film is to see how Islam is being misinterpreted by some and how moderate Muslims in the world are torn between two worlds. Their image is being destroyed by a small minority holding a totally different point of view. On the other hand they are being profiled against by the western world because their faith has the same name as the extremists."*

He keeps changing the story and the name and the cast. Shoaib Mansoor should just give up on this one.

Do you mean the Pakistani censors ? They already allowed a movie named Allah Nigehbaan so that can not be true.

Kabhi ALLAH kabhi Khuda, and besides that he’s been working or talking about working on a movie for years, before it was supposed to be a movie called “Yeh Baraf Humari Hai” in which Junaid was also supposed to star/sing, but it never happened.

Yeh Baraf Humari hai was stopped due to technical and financial reasons. It was supposed to be an India-Pak Movie in response to gutter movies like Gadar etc but with a different theme. Too bad it never metarialized. Hope this one gets completed.

The way the story goes, it looks like its another one of those we-suck-goras-rule film...whats this crap about showin Pak brits in such a poor light, forcing their daughters into marriage and all? They've already bashed it in shi*ty movies like East is East!
