I need coping strategies and quick…

how do i ignore the fact that he is perfection and that i need him to better my life? I can’t concentrate on anything but trying to impress him, i get to the point where i pretend i have read a book he has or pretend i am also interested in everything he is, when the truth is that i dont even care much for his subject speciality.

I usually never need to impress anyone, especially men, so i dont know whats wrong with me. there must be some psychological name for this disorder, in all my three years of psychology education i have never read or heard anything about dealing with infactuation of teachers.

Why don’t you just go upto him and ask him out for lunch and take it from there.

Miss M, May I suggest a recipe to cure you of this....

Take the whole scenario and play it out. Ok, you go see him after class with a valid academic question. One thing leads to another and you end up in a flaming affair with him.

2 things can happen now...

1. You end up being his mistress. He takes care of your physical needs, helps support you but you are now known as nothing more than a sexual toy for an older man, looked upon with disgust by anyone who finds out. So you have to keep the biggest part of your life a secret.

2. He falls in love, leaves his wife and kids for you, destroys his family emotionally, has to be embarrassed with his friends about you and YOU have to deal with the looks, the attitudes of everyone he knows who think you are a home-wrecker. And you will be left to wonder always - did he leave his wife because she was getting older and you were the "young chippie"? WIll he end up leaving YOU for a young thang when YOU get older?

That should cool things down for you a bit. I too had a crush like this while in college. I still think older guys are the most attractive (I think Sean Connery is one of the sexiest men alive!) Beleive me, its better to focus on your studies for now. Guys catch up eventually, give 'em time, put 'em on a back burner for now. I mean, my lovely husband is actually younger than me and a better husband I couldnt ever imagine. (except when he spends too much time on GS! lol!)

Its just a crush though, i would never ever approach him outside of uni and nor would i ever try to develop anything further...

this is reason i like him so much, cos i know i won't do anything about it...im not looking for a relationship. Im in love the type of man he is, thats all.

i do concentrate, he doesn't really affect my studies as i'v only ever had 2 lectures by him, his speciality subject is not taught to us in great detail, and during those two lectures i'v probably learnt more than i would have done in the whole year.

Im not obsessed or anything, iv done this before, i mean, be infactuated with an older uni lecturer....its a disorder of some kind, i know it, but i dont have a name for it as of yet...i tried google but to no avail :D

I love Sean Connary too!! Have you seen a movie of his called "Marni"? Its from the 60's, pyschological thriller...he looks soooo sexy and was much better than he looked as Bond
