This is the latest suspense thriller by Mary Higgins Clark that I am currently enjoying reading in my winter break from univ. Great book to curl up with, along with a cup of piping hot tea…
For a change, the heroine of the novel is of Italian heritage, named Marcia “Carley” DeCarlo, 32 year old columnist of the Wall Street Weekly, who is assigned the rather daunting task of finding the whereabouts of her stepsister’s shady businessman husband who has either disappeared or has faked his own death to cover up an elaborate money laundering scheme. Along the way, as she attempts to uncover the many buried secrets of Nicholas Spencer, she is confronted by seemingly impenetrable questions that drive her to the depths of danger, down a sinister path.
Done reading the above book which was quite a good read. Granted Mary Higgins Clark has written better works of suspense (ex. "Where Are the Children?", "While My Pretty One Sleeps", "Midnight Becomes You"). The ending is nothing splashing in this novel but it does make you appreciate the characters and plot the way they are so seemlessly intertwined and eloquently portrayed with a rich narrative.
what ide do to curl up with a hot cup of cocoa and a good book :( damn exams
ok i pick my books by looking at the last pages if it ends with 'and they lived happily ever after' or something that is most similar to that i pick it, if its someones funeral i dont give it another look

Hehehe...and she happens to be one of my most favorite authors of the suspense genre. When I start reading her books, I find it difficult to put them away; I keep saying to myself, ok I'll place the bookmark at the end of this chapter, no at the end of this one, nope after this page, and on and on it goes, and quite frankly, very few authors prompt me to do that.
Other than the classic writters I have just read a few novel writters. And this Mary is not one of them. I have read novels of Sidney Sheldon, Harald Robbins and Brain Lumlay. But if you recommend this writter I will definitely try to read one or two novels from her pen as well. Cuz I have almost read all the novels of Sheldon so need to find some other good writer.
Thanks for the tip
PS: Laikin agar us ke novel achay na hue na, to phir laRai ke liye tayyar ho jao
