The Rising/Aamir's acting (Merged)

Okay, so I just seen a bit of a trailor to this movie starring Amir Khan on ARY. I tried searching online of what it is all about and stuff but couldnt find something good.

All I got from the trailor that it is about Mangal Pandey and about the 1857 war. I know he was killed in the 1857 war and did something great I think. But what confused me that it said watch the story of India’s Independence or something like that.

My question is: Independence from what? I mean isnt it that after the 1857 war, India went under the British rule because the last Moghul King Bahadur Shah Zafar had to give up his throne?

My question could just be a result of very little information about the movie but if somebody does have more info about it can you please post it here cuz i m really confused.

Thankssssss

Re: The Rising -

It don't say "story of India's Independence" but it say " story of ur seed of Independence". Mangal Pandey is the first one who raised his voice against british and led the first war of independepnce in 1857 (which was eventually cruched).

Re: The Rising -

mangal pandey was the first one to stand against the british in an organized way. his mayrterdom led the foundation of further rising against british. he was a rebellion and that mutiny was a sucess in many ways. they reached delhi and made zafar king of india again.

Re: The Rising -

1857 revolt is considered to be the sepoy mutiny.started in barackpore(bengal) by mangal pandey and meerut(up).these sepoy after revolting in meerut reached delhi and declared bahadur shah zafar as the king of india who was dethroned by britishers.this revolt was not organised as the kings who were dethroned by british fought only for their kingdoms.like laxmibai for jhansi, nana saheb and tatya tope for kanpur, kuwar singh in bihar(not sure of place).the majority of kings who were patronized by british were against this revolt and they supported british in this revolt like gorkhas, sikhs and scindia of gwalior.it was only ristricted to the northern parts of india.southern kingdoms didnt take part in it.so british were able to easily crush this revolt.after this revolt only india came under the rule of union jack and the rule passed on to queen of england from the british east india company.for british warren hestings was the hero of this revolt coz he was successfully able to crush it.indian historians calls it the 1st war of independence from british east india company and british historian call it just a sepoy mutiny(remember the victor always writes the history:D)

Re: The Rising -

National Uprising…

Causes
The rebellion was the outcome of decades of ethnic and cultural differences between Indian soldiers and their British superiors. The specific reason that triggered the rebellion was the use of cow and pig fat in .557 calibre Pattern 1853 Enfield (P/53) rifle cartridges. Since soldiers had to break the cartridges with their teeth before they could load them into their rifles, this was offensive to Hindu and Muslim soldiers, who considered tasting beef and pork to be against their respective religious tenets. In February 1857, sepoys (Indian soldiers in the British army) refused to use their new cartridges. The British claimed to have replaced the cartridges with new ones and tried to make sepoys make their own grease from beeswax and vegetable oils, but the rumor persisted.

Mangal Pandey and the march to Delhi
In March 1857, Mangal Pandey, a soldier of the 34th Native Infantry, attacked his British sergeant and wounded an adjutant. General Hearsay, who said Pandey was in some kind of “religious frenzy,” ordered a jemadar to arrest him but the jemadar refused. Mangal Pandey was hanged on 7 April along with the jemadar. The whole regiment was dismissed as a collective punishment. Other sepoys felt this was too harsh.

On May 10th, when the 11th and 20th cavalry assembled, they broke rank and turned on their commanding officers. They then liberated the 3rd Regiment, and on 11 May, the sepoys reached Delhi. They were joined by other Indians from the local bazaar. They attacked and captured the Red Fort, which was the residence of Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last emperor of the Mughal dynasty. The sepoys demanded that he reclaim his throne. He was reluctant at first, but eventually agreed to the demands and became the leader of the rebellion.

Re: The Rising -

Okay I saw the trailor again and It does say, “the story of the birth of India’s Indepence”..thats the only thing that confuses me

Re: The Rising -

^ they’ll explore it like that 'cause he was a Hindu and let’s be honest, even the Muslims during that time were Indians.

..and I was so glad to hear that Ash was kicked out(contract difference) from the film and Amisha Patel is in 'cause Aamir was impressed with her IQ.. :k:

Re: The Rising -

^ exactly.

Amisha Patel in the movie? :bummer: What the hell does it matter if she has a high IQ or not. The chick cant act!

Re: The Rising -

NOW I am CONFUSED :bummer:

The Opening Ceromony of this MOvie was Conducted in UK and… PRINCE CHARLES was the Chief Guest There… and… The Media TOOK it … Media Criticised Prince Charles … FOR…

HOW CAN HE ATTEND THE OPENING CERMONY OF A MOVIE THAT IS ANTI-ENGLAND…

But at that time It was Said that… The Movie has nohting Anti-England…

Now… If they Will Show the MANGAL PANDAY… Meanz.. there will be somethign Anti-UK

Either… Media Was Tricked at that time.. or Prince Charles

Re: The Rising -

Amisha can act. It’s just that she has done poor films after Kaho Na..Pyaar Hai and Gadar.

Re: The Rising -

Kaho Na..Pyaar Hai and Gadar were cool movies. The bottom line is tht she can't act ;)

Re: The Rising -

^

What makes you think she can’t act? Bleh..

Re: The Rising -

Simple one is tht she tends to overact a scene. That is why not even a one worthy rememberable role she played in so any movies.

Re: The Rising -

*Talha, she cannot act. Stop letting your crush over her get in way of your insight :) ! *

Re: The Rising -

I wanna eat my hat when someone says Gadar was a cool movie disgusting wala smilie

Re: The Rising -

Re: The Rising -

I HATE amisha with a passion especially when she cries

Re: The Rising -

She just got lucky with Kaho na Pyaar hai and Gadar. She ahd nothing to do with those two movings becoming hits  I have no clue what Amir Khan was thinking. Unless she’s playing a character of a mute, then i can understand :-/
