Yes…we have all seen the tacky red lipstick some brides wear with the atta “white” makeup…
Any suggestions for which brand/shade of red lipstick is the best without looking tacky…
stick with matte…or glossy? or does glossy look tacky?

well i am a makeup fanatic and here are my 2 cents...
Yes almost everybody can pull a red lip, but you got to choose the right one..
so what is it that tells you what shade of red would you go for...its actually your complexion
if you are medium toned like moi...you want to go for a brown/ cherry red with a gold tone...
if you are fair..then u can go with the red with blue / cool undertone
if you are dark...u have to go with a frushia red so the color shows!
i do know mac has a variety of red shades...i personally light matte..only because red is a pretty powerful color and if you go glossy its like having a flash light on ur mouth?

u gonna wear red lips...try light eye makeup....i usually use black/ brown eye shadow and do the corner of my eyes..the bottom later....i use an angled brush...to smudge it outwards..so away from your eye..
and wear a heavy mascara and gold/ or patina ( eyeshadow from mac)

hey thanks! well i'm fair, and I really love lipsticks with blue tones to it! pinks look realy nice with blue tone.
I was planning to do the smokey eye with red lipstick because as a dulhan, aren't we supposed to do heavy eyes and heavy lips?
Can you suggest a lipstick with blue tones to it?
Personally, bright colors and heavy work on both eyes and lips comes off too tacky and “clowny” for my taste..
I would go for either a smokey eye with simpler, neutral lips or simple eye makeup with dramatic lips.. one or the other.
you’ll find what suits you best though. I would get some trials done of a few looks you like. when you get them done, make sure to take a picture of yourself with and without flash to see how they come out on camera. you’d be surprised what a difference it makes to judge AFTER looking at pictures instead of the mirror! ok i posted this somewhere else too...
try NARS Cruella...the matte stick not the lipstick....it will give a velvety red look. super hot, /i use it myself.
or try chanel...they only have one classic red...and it's a classic for a reason =)
