Pentagon save-face efforts come at expense of Afghan people, U.S. soldiers

The war against the Afghan people has been a catastrophe. Now the Pentagon’s goal—one embraced by President Obama—is to avoid the appearance of defeat.

Re: The return of the Taliban

Pakistan will be overrun by Taliban if US and NATO leave

Salahuddin Ayyubi and other goofs who argue that Taliban is Pakistan’s friend will be in for a rude awakening when the Taliban come barging down his house and take his computer and ban the Internet

What has that American support yielded? Begging for scraps while Swat is taken over, Islamabad in flames?

In any conflict we have to recognize who struck first: It was the Pakistani rent a soldiers setting FATA on fire, stoking the hatred at the behest of the Amrikis, while armchair tigers like you were calling for carpet bombing fellow Pakistanis. Now that the tables have turned, you continue to hold up the American support as some sort of an incentive to counter the very same monster that YOU created by enthusiastically joining the NATO/US colonial expedition into Afghanistan. Where is Osama? Mullah Omar? Yeah I thought so.

I unequivalacally condemn any encroachments into Pakistani soveriegnty whether its TTP or American drones. While others see Americans as soem sort of saviours, I see them cutting and running soon (give or take 5 years). What will the slaves of Washington do at that point? They will still have an indegenious insurgency coupled with a hostile Afghanistan.

MILITARY power will NOT be able to overwhelm the TTP, Talibs. Mark my words, so that we can revisit this 1 year from now.

Re: The return of the Taliban

^^ The only problem is that these tribals were running their own government and hosting foreign terrorists who are planning global attacks...

Are you saying that FATA and NWFP is not a part of Pakistan?

If we don't act against these people then we face being declared a Terrorist State, no foreign aid, no investment

Pakistan will be a blacklisted country...and we don't have oil like Iran to prop ourselves up....and without money coming into our country...Pakistan will become a Somalia...a failed state.....

So do some rationale thinking before you go one your verbal binge

When you learn to comprehend the discussion at hand then come back for a rude awakening until then keep yapping in circles.

again....no factual statements of any sort......

Just loookie who is talking.. :D

And who let them? Are you denying the ISI links? The Kashmir training camps? The Afghanistan "strategic depth" policy? At least I accept the policies of the past. You can't justwhitewash the past. What were the Taliban on 9/0/01? Pakistan's allies. Pakistan along with KSA and UAE (later recinded) were the only countries in the WORLD to recognize the regime. Go ahead deny away.

What do you think Pakistan is right now? New debt issuance and playing the role of an American colony? Although I completely disagree with the Iranian regime, I have 1000% more respect for their soverignty. Go ahead TRY to wipe them out, just don't cry to us about additional attacks all over Pakistan.

hah! What I wrote is essentially recognized by the vast majority of Pakistani strategists, military, and even partially by the Obama adminsitration (See "War in Afghanistan not winnable" and "Letstalk to the moderate taliban"). In fact what you're prposing is out sync with the ground realities.

Who will care about internet, when someone’s sister will get flogged for going to school.

Re: The return of the Taliban

Mercenary2k and Burqaposh! now see this report yourself. mercenary you are very proud of US Armed technology and 27 country military force and look at the report. what the hell your forces have acheived so far?

nothing. similarly they canty dare to disintegrate Pakistan because Pakistan is not iraq or afghanistan, it is a graveyard for enemy with nuclear weapons.

and look at taliban, they are extremists and their extremists must also bedealt with force, but why your forces failed, because they are mushriks and taliban are muslims no matter that they are extremists but atleast they do have iman either weak or strong.

on the other hand. US AND NATO has nothing. and this situation taday had given the conclusion that wars cant be only fought and conquered by only huge stockpile sof nukes and latest technology, but the type of religion and iman also matters in all the situation.

Obama has pledged to re-focus on Afghanistan. So I am glad USA is doing that.

As for Pakistan, don't worry. Pakistanis don't need outsiders to disintegrate Pakistan, they are perfectly capable of doing it themselves.

So just because the Taliban are muslims, that excuses their behaviour? Or are you implying that no christian or jew can be a good person?

Thats very naive and stupid thinking

Not really. Its person's will to survive and safeguard his family. Anyone can fight as bravely and courageously if their lives and families and their nation is threatened.

Since none of that implies on the Taliban. One can only conclude they are brainwashed idiots who have nothing better to do.

And besides, USA lost 58,000 men in Veitnam from 1965 - 1973 (8 years)

They have been in Afghanistan for 7 years and they only lost 600 troops.

VietCong would have annihilated the Taliban in any fight.....

Very very valid point!!
