The return of the Jawaris

Re: The return of the Jawaris

Butt sure has strong ties. Will play for lahore soon . He is below avg player. Even he is a great player Shud not be in the team. he is like a cancer as he capable of influencing other players.
Selection of Asif n Aamir shud be on merit based on performance.

Re: The return of the Jawaris

Admittedly Butt comes across as the most shameless of the lot but if you are going to base their selections on merit or performance then you must treat them all equally. You cannot select two and ignore the third. Otherwise it smacks of bias or hypocrisy (i.e. we are lenient on Amir and Asif ONLY because we need the fast bowlers more than we need Butt!!).

The following sums up my feelings

Re: The return of the Jawaris

My point of view aganist butt is because he was the captain of the team n he was the one who planned it for them . Others were executers. Also he was one not showing any sign of guilt or repentance.

I m a big fan of asif the bowler but hate him alot asif as a person.

The return of the Jawaris

IMO they can play domestic cricket as this is their bread and butter, but please don't let them play for national team as in cricket players normally start playing at very young age and can get bad influence that they can do anything and get punishment and later can play again.

Re: The return of the Jawaris

as i said in another thread, if asif and aamir are fit and perform in first class cricket, bring them back as we need them. they have served their sentence and hopefully this episode has taught them a lesson too.

butt was always a mediocre player...so who needs him. plus he is the biggest culprit considering he was captaining the team.

Re: The return of the Jawaris

Why single out these three? Just becoz these 3 were given more airtime than the rest doesn't mean they did any worse than the rest ...... scores of PPL get killed due to gros negligence of certain PPL in Power ..... innocent kids get abused yet this is hardly news for a week!!! Scores of PPL die in hospitals due to lack of treatment, medication and what not yet this hardly news anymore !!!!!

When a nations socalled leaders have collectively done more damage than the next 10 gen. of these 3 will ever be able to muster ..... yet all these socalled leaders roaming around scot free .... double standards anyone??

Afterall they just did what the majority of nations socalled leaders does day in day out

So give it a rest and let them be ..... if they merit their selection then they shoud be selected ..... Mark Waugh, Herschelle Gibbs, Shane Warne and others all had their issue yet they went on to represent their respective nations

Re: The return of the Jawaris

there you go…4 test matches in England after 6 years

if fit and performing well, we need ammir and aisf…kaya karien, majborrie hai.

Re: The return of the Jawaris

no we don't need Asif.

Amir is good, and lets give chance to more better bowlers who're not corrupt.
No sympathy for Butt or Asif.

Salman Butt was never a good batsman anyways

Re: The return of the Jawaris

How many of us truly repent (for?) Our mistakes. I note one is 23, other two 30 and 32. So assuming this happened 5 years ago they were 18 25 and 27. Not exactly gray beards.

If true repentance is the metric by which we measure people, none of is should be allowed to be a functioning individual.

Of course people will be sad when they get caught. But those who get cauggt are a minority , with a vast magnitude working the system and living a good life.

That is why the ONLY thing that matters is these 3 have done their time.

Re: The return of the Jawaris

The quality of a player should have no bearing on whether they should be banned from Tests. The lack of quality will automatically weed them out.

Someone else talked about poor influence on youngsters and sending wrong message that if u get caught and do the time u can come back.

Actually that is a great message. That u get a 2nd chance after doing ur time.

As for their bad influence on yiungsters, I highly doubt they will be encouraging youngsters to go down that path.

Just curious - has ANY western cricketer spent time in jail for such an offense? I didn't think so.
