Re: The reputation points
This is just another just one of those things
GS is turning in to a ' how popular are you contest' which I hate. I thought GS was a community which does not judge and everyone is equal but obviously that is not the case.
Re: The reputation points
All new member start with a reputation power of 10. Administrator's Reputation Power = 10 For every 365 number of days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power. For every 10 number of posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power. For every 100 points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power. How many posts must a user have before his reputation hits count on others? = 50
Th level of a user reputation have before his/her reputation hits count on others? = 10
Maximum number of reputation clicks user can give over a 24 hour period? (Administrators are exempt from this limit.) =10
The number of different users you must give reputation to before you can hit the same person again? (*Administrators are exempt from this li*mit.) = 20
So without doing all of these calculations (i left my scientific calculator at home today) how does one find out what their rep-altering capability is?
Re: The reputation points
I have 928 posts ![]()
Ok question, how do these comments come uP? Mine says I’m a splendid one to behold ![]()

Yes. This idea is very stupid. We have idiots using this as a sign of entitlement. "I have more points than you - so shut up".
Please do remove this gimmick. Judge a person by his posts, not how many months they've been online or how many posts they've put up.
Re: The reputation points
I take it red blocks indicate the number of bums you've set on fire with your lovely posts whereas green means the number of bums you've kissshyyy-fied. :D

I am seeing a lot of greens. ![]()
Can I turn this thing off? - I don’t want to see any green or red under my nick.
This thing doesn’t make sense.
Re: The reputation points
While at this point, I am not sure if this reputation point system is worth it, nor am I convinced that this won’t turn into another of those vain popularity contests, however, I am willing to give it a try to see how members use it.
However, this kind of statement really disappoints me, because its a threat to make sure people are not honest about their views. Very unfortunate. I know sometimes poeple post things in jest, but this one, whatever it is, is in really bad taste.
Re: The reputation points
More and more I see this site morphing into some high school election campaign. It's one thing to hold shams in Cafe, but it's another to transform all of GupShup into a popularity contest.
Keep these gimmicks going and you'll eventually see the high caliber list of intelligent, well spoken, reasoning Pakistanis leave. Some of us dont take kindly to teenage-fests.

it's not in bad taste at all.. you got the central idea right but you got me wrong :) no need to disappoint...
I exactly meant that... that's how it is being used and that's how people are using it :-)
PLUS you missed the whole context from the conversation with jony... It was, initially, posted as a jest for he never gave me any negative points anyway...
Some times, it's good to read posts and to which posts they are replied to.. does not hurt....
Re: The reputation points
Sorry I have not read everything in this thread. I was just curious. Is it possible for me to Check who gave me positive/negative comments and what type etc. If so, how?
Thanks!
Re: The reputation points
^
yes you can... from user control panel.. i dunno if there is a direct link to that but if you go to your private msgs, you will see the link to it from top left navigation (bread-crumb) .. :)
and that's one reason using it irresponsibly, one will think twice .. but initially people did not know :D
