… is because of the shower room etiquette.

I mean how do guys roam around naked in shower room. Its so disgusting.

do you find it awkward?

but coming to the shower room part, it is awkward no matter what ..

u mean just being in the locker room or just the shower part? its really not awkard...u just tie a towel around ur waist and thats it.. :/

The Y that my family goes to has shower curtains phew in all 4 locker rooms but you don't know these people so you don't have to socalize.

The showers at my office gym however I would not set foot in.

I go to the gym 2-3x/wk. I go in, change, put my stuff in locker, walk out...Total maybe 5-6 minutes). After the work out, I go in, grab my stuff, leave (less than 5 minutes). I'm not one of those people who are drenched in sweat after the workout.....I also always have a towel in my trunk and lay that on the seat after gym.

So no...I don't find gym shower awkard at all. My fiance does the same thing. Us not taking a shower at the gym has nothing to do with being uncomfortable....it has to do with the fact that we find the idea unhygenic.

The gym I currently go to is right across the street from my buliding so I dont’ see a need to shower there…however back when I was in college (the first few years), I would go to the gym very often and since I had class, I would take a shower after working out… for some reason friends/classmates found it very strange :vivo:

^ Good point...but u know...in all my years at college, I never once ran into someone I knew, and yes I usualy was a little afraid that while i'm showering or changing, someone I know will come by...but that never happened.

my aunt told me that once her husband took their young sons (8 & 6) to the gym pool, and they were showering after that. They were still wearing their swimming trunks in the shower, but others were not. Obviously kids look around, and one of my cousins started laughing, and when his dad asked him why, he said "Baba, why does that man have a beard down there?"

So, no matter how much you try to not look, its going to happen. I suggest not showering at the gym. Just wipe yourself down with a towel and shower at home.

i showered at home. their were some well documented perverts at the gym that i was at. Dont judge. it was the only gym that was about walking distance :/

My gym at work is free ... but I never go there and signed up to a more expensive one ... 'cos the changing rooms and showers have to be crossed to get to the gym, in which case it makes no difference whether I get changed in the changing room or not ... I would still have to walk through that ...

I always end up driving home in sweat and shower..

I've spent more than half my life in the west but I can't accept the gym nakedness.. old man walking around with hairy everything.. disgusting!

lol hairy everything. cant be as bad as my gym. it was a public gym and they were trying to encourage everybody to go along. Anybody could go and they mean that, they mean ANYBODY!!. anything. anybody :D

On a serious note U can take shower when u come at home or even in winters u dont even need shower straightaway
