Not every Pakistani living in the west wears them on a daily basis. My husband and I don’t.
QUOTE=Sentry;10079101]I just phoned my mum and asked her, apparently we do exchange/wear rings.

Re: The real value of gold ..
@Sentry Doesn't matter, your mom's going to be on your case now. I would be too if my brother asked me such a question out of the blue.
Re: The real value of gold ..
Lol. I doubt it. She’s more concerned about my older bro not being married lol.
Re: The real value of gold ..
You just call yourself ugly?
Don't have to, bro
Re: The real value of gold ..
Muslims are NOT allowed to wear gold in excess of a very miniscule weight/amount *. it's enough for a small wedding band. i've seen Egyptian men wearing wedding rings. it's rare in the subcontinent for men to wear the wedding ring...may be they don't want perpective girls to know about it. :D
I don't think muslim men are allowed to wear gold at all. Other metals are allowed.*
Re: The real value of gold ..
Because others do it for you or because you are too good-looking ? ![]()
Re: The real value of gold ..
I don't say "salam" to my mum. Don't judge me.. Lol.
I actually said;
Me; "hello, mum. Do we wear rings when we get married" Mum; "Aren't you meant to be at work" Me; "Yes but I need an answer to this question" Mum; "Why you asking" Me; "Cause i'm having a debate with some people over wedding rings" Mum; "You go to work to talk to people about wedding rings or work" Me; "Oh my dayz" Mum; "Yes we wear rings etc" Me; "Okay, I thought we didn't.." Mum; "You dating a girl" Me; "No" Mum; "I'll break your legs when I see you" Me; "I ain't got time for this" hangs up
Sounds like my ammi, except there is no warning about breaking legs. It will jut happen.

no, they are allowed a very small weight...[enough to buy a day's meal]...most Egyptians i've met do wear a thing band of gold wedding band [may be 18 carrot, not 22/24 carrot]. even in India and Pakistan a small percentage of Muslims wear gold angooThii [wedding band]. you may want to ask an 'aalim if you so widh. :)
Re: The real value of gold ..
Maybe @psyah would know. Lets see how good @ tag is.
Re: The real value of gold ..
he is not an aalim…none of us at GS are…but, let’s see what he has to say.
btw, we have a resident mufti on GS by the name of TLK bro…let’s ask him for a ingenuine fatwa!
don’t try to send him gifts before asking the fatwa! ![]()

Re: The real value of gold ..

no, not for the Gulaab Jaamuns but for Qalaaqand, may be! :D
btw, i can't keep fast due to my medical condition. i try to eat just as little [enough] as possible to survive the day. i do sitdown on Iftar table with family and believe me i look more rozadaar by my looks than any other family member...it's the natural raunaq on my face, alHamdolillah! :D

Is the allowable weight normalized as a pct of the persons weight? Or is there an absolute upper limit.*

lolzzz...you are funny! :D
if you weigh less than 1 g [on some undiscovered planet where you weight is a million times less] then yes, the weight of gold equivalent to your own weight can be worn by you as a new covert to Islam! :) :D
Re: The real value of gold ..
In other words, allowable wt is 1g?
Please note that if my weight would be 1E6 times less in a planet, so will that of the gold. Does allowable we vary with the value of acceleration due to gravity?
