the original qureshis were from ibne quraish . but then these days i see every second person is a qureshi . most of them living in the mountainous areas like murree and some parts of nwfp . but actually there were rajas and abbasids .. now popularly known as abbasis . my question is that what links do these qureshis have with the original tribes .. or they just became qureshis ? all by themselves ..
or is there any other minor linked family chains called qureshis?

Nope.
Many tribes when they converted, adopted the surnames Sheikh and some adopted Qureishi, as a name, not a ancetral name. If they dont look Arab, have any high social standing in their locality, they are then most certainly from such people, i.e. not real Arab Qureshis, but Indigenous Indian converts. This was a wide spread practice.
This wasn't a bad thing, these tribes did this to enter a new phase of their lives, free of caste prejudice (as they were from Nai, Mochi backgrounds etc)
There are some authentic Qureshis, but local Syeds will confirm their authenticity in most cases as they will have likely travelled together.

Quresh was one of the many tribes in Arabia…
During the advent of Muhammad Bin Qasim:rehm:, many arabs from different tribes came in to settle in DeebaL [present day Sindh - the indus valley] and then spread all around the sub-continent… Then there were local muslim reverts… The inter-caste marriages among Qureshies, other Arab tribes, and Local reverts started to happen obviously… This is more than a 1300 years of story… Arabs by their appearances disappeared in the melting pot and their revert progenies left in sub-continent with local features… Hence, the reason of so many Qureshies, Siddiquies, etc. Their family trees do go link with Arabia, that is if it is available in the family

people who question how so many ppl can be qureshis or osmanis or siddiquis or syeds or farooqis etc should read a great article I found which talked about how henry III's futre family included major US figures, and how there is a chance that even Brooke shields is related back to the Prophet.
