Now that we got 3 presents (Geo, ARY and Pakistan beating India), the finale will mean for you to move to 121°, called Superdish.
Superdish is not your regular satellite.
The Superdish measures approximately 34" X 26". The pole for the Superdish is a 2" or 2.3/8’s diameter . The base for the Superdish measures @ 6" X 10". It will not mount on most gable ends like the DISH500 or DISH300.
There are two types of Superdish:
- 110, 119 and 105 (local channels and HDTV)
- 110, 119 and 121 (International)
Q: So, Why can’t I just point my 18" DTV dish at 121W and pick it up?
A: Three reasons. Problem number one is, the Polarity sceme used by the satelites at 105 and 121 are different from the other Birds in use by Dishnet, DTV or Bell. The use a Horizontal/Vertical style of polairty and not the circular system used on the regular satelites.
Number Two, is simply, the 18" isnt large enough. The Transmitting power of both birds is significantly lower than a regular DBS satellite, and a dish of at least 24" is needed for an acceptable signal.
Third, the satelites at 105W and 121W transmit in the KU FSS Band, which is a different range of frequencies used by the conventional DBS satelites, refered to as the “DBS Band”
Superdish will not work for 7100/7200’s.
Supposedly, Superdish satellites cost $200US. (but your able to get it off ebay for $100US).
If you only want 121 only, and want to leave your dish 500 on the roof, you can just buy the superdish without the dp34 and save money.
