Inline what I posted yesterday…a great article by imminent modern scholar Sheikh Hamza Yusuf calling out “terrorist Islamism” & confirming it has something to do with Islam. Lets accept it so that we can fix it! A though provoking must read…
now you may differ with him but no need for any nasty lingo or labeling…this is an intellectual discussion.
Re: The Plague Within
"terrorist islamism" has to do with muslims not with Islam. If it has to do with Islam then we should stop calling it best of religions

namaz, roza, zakat, hajj, quran are main pillars of islam and are there for eternity but other than that islam has a well defined process of aligning its teaching/practices with every time-period via ijmah and qayas, which we completely abandoned and therefore we are now stuck with 12th century framework for most of the social aspects of islam and certain groups are using it to further their exterme agends. that needs to be changed.

Maybe, there will be time, if not already, where Islam won't be compatible 100%.
Tell me desi jee, should we allow women priests and gay marriage? Other religions in america have started doing it. What would be too much for your pakistani pyara sa dimag? :D

People have forgotten the hierarchy of the scripture. They rarely refer to Quran the main source the pivot and the "rope" that we need to hold on to and Sunnah of the prophet (pbuh). Often prophet (pbuh) is quoted wrt following certain rituals and not how he dealt with certain situations in his lifetime. they consider 'fiqah' as ultimate resource and forget that fiqah is man-made laws that may need to be reviewed and changed using ijtehad and using brain-cells in the light of pivotal resources i.e., Quran and Sunnah
