peer pressure - their other "dawgs" are doing it to, and so must they. I think some of our resident "dawgs" can enlighten us more on the phenomenon.

But i have been told that guys do that because they believe most women are confused about the type of man they want. Women want responsible, loving and "nice" men but are sexually attracted to complicated men or jerks. Hence the hooting and the hollering...

If you look around, the majority of these 'dawgs' have girls. So somewhere there are girls who don't find their chichorapun disgusting and therefore they are fishing.

The bottom line: women dont like nice guys because nice guys=weak men. These guys make good sugar daddies, but bad seed carriers. No woman wants to have a baby with what she construes as a weak man.
Most men know that little factoid about women, so the immature ones try to fake real manhood by hooting and hollering at total strangers. The more mature and smarter ones, however, actually get into relationships and then resort to a different type of “jerk” behavior, prompting responses from women like “he makes booty calls,” or “he treats me like sh!t.”
Why women like these jerks? beacuse they reinforce the negative self-beliefs most women have about themselves.
One other thing that i noticed. Women get peeved when an ugly, pot-bellied man makes romantic gestures at them, prompting responses like “ewww..perv..how disgusting;” but then switch the Ugly with Tom Cruise and you get blushes and smiles. It’s almost as if it is not the act of staring or gazing that women have a problem with, but the type of a person who commits it.

Good, smart imtelligent guys - are not percieved as weak. What I would hate to do is get a good guy angry. That is a scary thought.
I think all that is very …blah.. cliche philosophies. I dont think many girls have a negitive self image. maybe as teenagers but not women.
i also think jerks are out of fashion. Noone wants their kid to have the seeds of a gali da khota. The geeks rule

In animals it is a common thing to woe their females by showing extravagant behaviour. Human are also animals. So some of the traits might be directly coming from their genes. I am sure there are plenty of girls out there who actually enjoy that kind of behaviour. Definitely not all.

Males in the animal kingdom fight for a reason: To show their superiority to females. The stronger and the braver ones win. The females allows the stronger one to coupulate with them because this increases the chance of producing a better breed of their own. Subconsciously, a female homo sapien will do the same.
The breeding grounds have changed but the instincts to produce a better self have not.

I have another theory.
Most of these guys are likely to come from traditional Paki families. Their mothers and sisters are stay at home, ultra-cultural types. They are super protective of their women, because they know that they will be harassed by guys just like them. Also, with some guys, their mothers teach them that if a girl happens to be out on the street, she is not deserving of any respect so it's okay to cat-call her. I think any guy who has any love and respect for the women of his family would stop this idiotic behavior because guess what, that's someone else's sister, daughter that you're doing batameezi with. But of course, these ignorant bayghairats, raised by uneducated men and women who don't know any better, believe mum is the only one deserving of any izzat.

Dopey is almost right. From early cave-dwelling times, there were two distinct types of male behaviours that would attract women as mates.
1) "Strong" men - in personality and body. Strong men lead to strong offspring
2) Good providers. Good providers provide well for offspring
In the past, where weak men would get weeded out through being unable to defend themselves, being "strong" and a good provider went hand in hand.
Today, being "strong" does not mean you're a good provider, and vice versa.
You thus, for the main part, find 3 species of men.
The "strong" emphasising masculinity.
The "weak" aka "nice guys" emphasising providability and dependability.
The "weak" who can't provide but who pretend to act masculine to compensate.
Of course, there is the minority that has both traits, but lets ignore those because they are numerically insignificant.
