I think good makeup artists and saloons all over the world perfer MAC or Clinique. Its the best.
Re: The perfect base for brides..
MAC is the best !!!
ive heard that christian dior is also really good but i myself use MAC
good luck
I find Chanel very good. I have oily skin so I use their oil controlling lotion first. They both work wonders!
Re: The perfect base for brides..
Actually, many professionals refuse to use MAC (for several reasons, including poor quality. Surprise surprise).
I use professional only brands that are specifically made for photography, print, and film work (not including mac or clinique). It looks beautiful in person, and just as good in photo's!. Many products which are sold to "regular," customers are not good enough to be used for wedding photography or video.
A good makeup artist will likely use products you've never heard of. Don't focus on the brand. Focus on the portfolio the artist has to display. You will be able to see if she/he is good based on those.
Re: The perfect base for brides..
^what brands do you use?
Re: The perfect base for brides..
well the base i think most pro's use is the kryolan stick, isn't it? it a cream foundation type thing that covers amazingly well and didn't feel heavy at all on my face.

Krylon is a good company. It's often used in theatrical productions. I find cream base to the be the best for full coverage.
Re: The perfect base for brides..

both r awesome
Re: The perfect base for brides..
MatineeSiren..which foundation do you use?
What do you guys tink about Eve Pearl cosmetics?
I have the salmon concealor in light..and I find that it works pretty well.
Re: The perfect base for brides..
I have clear, even skin so I don't need bases for the most part but when I do go to parties or weddings I only use bare minerals. Very light and actually good for the skin.
But I'm dreading on my wedding they're going to put some heavy creme or something on my face:( I hope that doesn't irritate my skin... Thats the only part of the wedding I'm actually concerned about. sheesh :(

For brides I use Krylon and Bobbi Brown (foundation sticks) they're used for the heavier coverage that turns out nice in pictures. First however a concealer is applied to cover-up all blemishes and spots. The foundation is "set" with a loose powder.
great thanx!.. i will check those out…

Re: The perfect base for brides..
Gina - Is there any specific product you would recommend from the Krayolan range? they seem to have thousands of product!!!
They have something called an ultra fluid foundation product? they also have somehting called a TV paint stick?
Re: The perfect base for brides..
I read somewhere else in this forum that a professional makeupartist recommended to use a MAC studio finnish concealer all over the face .. alone for heavy coverage otherwise mix it with MAC oil control Moisturiser to form a foundation...
what do you think?...
anyone tried it personally ?
Re: The perfect base for brides..
First I moisturize the face. Then I neutralize any under eye circles, redness, blemishes, etc. Then I conceal blemishes. Then I use the foundation that is best suited for the brides skin (usually RCMA, Joe Blasco, Cinema Secrets, or Makeup Forever). Then, when all makeup has been done I set it with a clear setting/oil control powder.
There is a difference between makeup for professional use, and for daily use.
I personally don't like MAC. I'll use their eyeshadows, but that's the extent of it. I've heard other artists say they'd only use MAC on cadavers (dead bodies).
And I can usually tell if an artist has used MAC or not. It often turns the face ashy.
Re: The perfect base for brides..
^wow i am surprised.. usually you hear so many good things about MAC foundation.. i f i remember correctly someone said that MAC was made for theater makeup.. and cause of that it should give the best look infront of light and cameras...?
