the Pakistan Day parade held at constitution avenue Islamabad every 23 March is a national event and people look forward to it. it’s become part of our culture an national heritage and is an event Pakistanis are made to feel proud and patriotic on. Last year there were border tensions with India and so it was decided it wouldnt be held; for the first time since the tradition had begun. Now this year for no apparent reason and no prior announcements i think it wasnt held, again! i dont think the Wana operation is an excuse big enough.
India’s similar occasion is 26 january, and they have been having their parades and displays of all their weapons every year. what’s with us!? it’s a good ego boosting and patriotism waking day with the military showing off its abilities, it shouldnt be abandoned like this!
from what i heard it wasnt conducted this yr b/c we can’t be celebrating when there’s a war going on in the tribal areas, the wana op as u mentioned…dono if thats the real reason tho
i too wish we conducted them though, its a special national tradition

oh for cryin out loud...!!
this 'mouse' of yours is a SSG commando, has been to battle and has won awards for galantry, has looked death in the eye more than 4-5 times. and anyway, there's no way one could kill him in the middle of a military parade with so much security-atleast i hope so.

That was a cheap shot. The man is an SSG commando and a war hero, and has awards of bravery and valor on his belt, please be careful when you address someone like that next time.

Exactly! He is braver then you think, and may i ask, why did the "Mods" delete my pervious posts?
I have respect deep in my heart for those brave soldiers who shed their blood while defending this country. I respect those 40+ soldiers who have died in Waziristan, despite the fact that their leader had staged that drama only to get media attention, but they were doing only their duty. I pay my tribute to those hundreds of soldiers who died on the icy peaks of Kargil and were buried hastily and without any military ceremony, heck, the general had even refused to accept the dead bodies of some pakistani soldiers to deny his culpability in the conflict. But I don't have an iota of respect for this wimp. Warlike verbalisation and shrinking with fear is his hallmark and hell-bent on to play a stooge of yanks.

what makes you think the operation was staged...?
if the enemy is a hindu or jew or chrstian it's ok to kill them in the name of Jihad. what if the enemy is a muslim within your territory!? killing such men who kill innocent people and use our territory to carry out and plan illegeal activities is no less than jihad too. and each and every soldier whose body was recovered from the snowpeaked mountains in 1999 was buried with full military honours in his hometown by his family. go check out the ISPR records and press releases if you have doubts. and for those whose werent, may Allah grant them eternal reward and may their glory live through Pakistan. I remember the story of the two bodies of fallen Pakistani soldiers that made headlines back in april 1999 with pakistan saying it wasnt their soldiers and India saying it was our officers. at that time my friend, it wasnt Musharraf who was pulling the political strings. it wasnt the general who was the wimp. it was dear old mian sahib who solied his shalwar and didnt have the nerve to accept the bodies of his fallen soldiers. and what he did licking Clinton, everybody knows! it was every soldiers worst nightmare! getting back to those bodies. within 2 days the issue was resolved when the bodies were formally handed over to Pakistani soldiers; one of them was a soldier, the other non other than Captain Karnal Sher Khan of (Sindh regmt) NLI, who had gone miles into the indian terrotory with limited resurces and standing men and blew up their HQ in the area and in a battle that followed ended up the last man standing and refused to surrender and kept firing his machine gun and at last when he was ammoless, the sher was inevitably cornered up and all enemy machine guns opened fire on him! thsi account was narrated by an indian officer and published in a magazine. the indian CO of the post later sent a letter to Sher's CO commending his performance and reccomending his name for a gallantry award, which is an honour he shares with Maj Shabbir Shariff who was martyred at Sulemanki in 1971. Pakistan always knows it's heros and enemies well. Sher Khan was awarded the Nishanihaider along with Havaldar lalak Jan in 1999 like Shabbir Sharif was in 1971 along with 4 others.
wimps are not men in uniform who have been to battle and are ready to die for their country. wimps are those who sit home or at office and think think they are.
if one puts any of the soldiers martyred recently in Waana in Musharraf's place with the same reasoning ability, education and knowledge that he has i'm sure they all would act exactly as he has! they are the soldiers of Pakistan and their duty is to protect their land from threat external or internal.
