The Pakistani Mentality Vs. The West

Re: The Pakistani Mentality Vs. The West

I can totally relate to you there… i’m living among many who are second generation immagrants but i am more like thier grandparents even though i am the same age as them… :rotfl:

Re: The Pakistani Mentality Vs. The West

In 20 years these questions will be irrelevant, because no one from this generation's children will ever think of coming to Pakistan.

Re: The Pakistani Mentality Vs. The West

Naah dream on Pakistaan Zindabaad! :jhanda:

I’ve seen what both worlds have to offer and i’ll accept poverty and hard labour any day compared to living here at the moment. :salute:

Re: The Pakistani Mentality Vs. The West

Yeh i get it all the time, last time i went pak i was 15, and didnt do my eyebrows, hair wasnt all that, bad fashion sense, no makeup, and fat. and they all were like how come people from london look like this??shock horror.

this time i went, was totally different.no comments. my sis however, they tormented her by saying how dark she was, and they are darkerrrrr.

the thing with pakistanis is you need to play them at their own game, so if they say something rather than just take it, you have to say it back. they will insult you, and then if you get offended will say hawwww aap to naraaz hi hogi.....wtf..

so when they said to me whys ur sis so dark.....
i said what ciolour are you *insert name*, your alot darker, whjy are you dark.....

Re: The Pakistani Mentality Vs. The West

^ You should have replied; 'haanji...afsooz hai ke aapke jaise kaali khatti hogai!'

OMG that is exactly what they do. It's so stupid, how can you say that to a guest that has come all the way from the uk? Are they idiots, they have no clue how to speak to another person!
I'm not fat, just a wee bit chubby, and they had a nice laugh about that. Oh and they also made fun of my hijab and that I wear clothes that cover my whole body and that I read namaz. God I'm a loser! Also girls should NOT be going to university, it's a total waste of time, my parents should get me married off before I gain any more weight. They actually ask me why I'm fat?! I couldn't say anything back, if I did my mum would've killed me.
However, I am sure not all paks are like that, it depends on their upbringing and intellect. Some of them can be the so incredibly hospitable, really sweet and kind... I only met one family like that there.

Re: The Pakistani Mentality Vs. The West

wow. I was hoping that species of stupidity had died, but I guess not.

HAHAHAHHA..u know I actually had a nightmare about that…I’m going to Pak soon, and everyone asking me why didn’t i lose MORE weight, why am I so fat etc.

I’ve been goign to gym regularly and (kind of) watching my diet, but its just not enough :hinna:

Re: The Pakistani Mentality Vs. The West

This whole weight thing is weird; because in Africa, fuller/ curvier girls are deemed to be more 'beautiful' than the slimmer ones. It just shows that it's the mentality...different cultures prefer different things! I, living in the West, actually think curves are better too!

Re: The Pakistani Mentality Vs. The West

I think most poorer cultures prefer curvier girls whilst wealthier ones prefer slimness..

Re: The Pakistani Mentality Vs. The West

^ Thanks for pointing that out! Lol!

Re: The Pakistani Mentality Vs. The West

Pakistains growing up in western countries are generally very differnet from pakistanis in pak. List is very long too tierd to type...

^I gota agree with chick chick. Pakistanis who are born or even raised here in West are generally different than Pakistanis who were born and bred there. That is why most of the time, fellas who are born and bred here can't get along with the girl in Pakistan and vice verca of course.

Re: The Pakistani Mentality Vs. The West

theyr the same now..i cant tell a difference..lots of them r half half(came here as pre-teens).. n also u dont whos lying n who telling truth..some of them say we were born here or came when we were 1 year old..

one thing i noticed in pak though is there is too much jealousy..mentality is 'if they have wealth y don't they spend it on us'..n when they get out of control n then u tell them off..then a war starts

anyways ..i think the upbringing will determine how they r i think bcs u can have same types here as u can in pak

Re: The Pakistani Mentality Vs. The West

^ its your bad luck that you end up in same kind of bad company in Pakistan as you have abroad. Normal people in Pak are too different than foreign pakis.

Your reply is actually what I was looking for! Its true there are quite a few half-halfs as you so put it.

Ive seen many families in the west that have the exact same mentality as the ones in Pakistan. Esp with the aunties! They just have farr too much time on their hands! lol

Another thing is when you travel over there they expect you to bring them something. However, when its their time they act so dumb-ified! "We didnt know what you liked, so we didnt bother!?" . . .

True! they're always expecting some sort of gift.. and not just a little souvenir, but like expensive gadgets like ipods and cameras! They dont know how hard people in the west have to work to make money too.. they think we all have money trees and everyone lives like a king. When actually, they are the ones who have a slave in every home!

Re: The Pakistani Mentality Vs. The West

How come I have not experienced all this stuff? :konfused:
And why do you even socialize with all these weirdos who keep saying things like that?

I go back to Pakistan every year only for 3 weeks and I make sure I spend it with my parents and in-laws only (immediate family)… khaalaas, taayaas, phuphis, etc. I don’t even meet… maybe thats why I haven’t experienced all the crap you people keep talking about.

Also, born and raised in Pakistan… I can definitely tell you that I did not think like that about desis abroad. Heck I didn’t have any opinion about anyone I had not met before… period.

My husband, who had been living here for 5 years had a lot of opinions though … so actually you base your opinions on your experiences and not pre-conceived notions.

The point is stop generalizing… not all Pakistanis think alike or behave alike, there are weirdos everywhere and sane people too.
