Do you think more ppl know vital signs or N/Z as compare to NFAK in the WORLD?????? I doubt it. Also the NFAK's originality and talent was much more than them. Having said that they are the pioneers of Disco/Pop in Pakistan and their contribution in Pakistani music is uncomparable.
Nusrat was way above... Not alot of artists from Pakistan have such worldwide recognition as Nusrat. The amazing this is that alot of music icons such as Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Pearl Jam (Eddie Vedder), Peter Gabriel were so impressed by him. One of them even said, 'when nusrat died, part of me died with him'. Nusrat's music for the Oscar Winning movie 'Dead man Walking' was incredible. His nephew 'Rahat Fateh Ali Khan' is also a very good singer, and at first I thought he was using the 'Fateh Ali Khan' label to his advantage but having listened to him, I can safely say that he sure has his uncles talent within him. Its sad that Nusrat died at a time when his career was at its peak, but Rahat can continue the legacy and Nusrat will never forgotten.

No one can come close to the one and only Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan has absolutely no comparison when it comes to originality, popularity, & creativity - living or dead in Pakistan. He was par Xcellence. His music motivated many, inspired many & he performed with western & eastern artists.
He was respected & loved. As far as my knowledge, he supported 150 poor families in Pak. He is a legend & his likes can be compared 2 Jimi Hendrix & The Beatles.
His contribution 2 da soundtracks of Natural Born Killers, Last Man Standing, Last Temptation of Christ & Phoolan Devi was Xcellent.
His qawwalis had meaning, his voice had power, & his words had colors.
Legends r 4ever.

It seems most people are going for NFAK just because he was recognized by some western folks or gave score in some hollywood movies. I think NFAK would have been great even if he had not worked with Peter Gabriel etc. He was a truly great artist, but it is very hard to chose the greatest artist ever because there are so many singers/artists and most of them are equally good.
I think NFAK stands out for his style of music and composition and was more popular among the masses but Noor Jahan, Mehndi Hasan, Ghulam Ali, Farida Khanum etc are equally good.
Everyone is mentioning NFAK even I'm big fan of his but aside from the great legend mine would be

only NFAK mesures upto the set critieria .. otherwise there have been more talented people than him..
