The other chip on my shoulder...

well not exactly! I have this terrible rotator cup displacement in my right shoulder. There’s this ‘clunk’ - if you call it - I feel during motion.. . It’s been getting worse slowly for the past few years, not sure why, perhaps bumps and bruises. Although, last year it got aggravated after a mountain biking mishap, since my shoulder took brunt of the impact. At that time, I was told by the doctors that I should keep up with physio therapy after the recovery process, which I did, and it got better to some extent. Actually, I have felt that if there’s more muscle mass around the shoulder’s rotator cup, it gets better while firmly in place. But, during the periods when I do extensive conditioning, and shed lots of mass, the clunkage comes back. I have never been too good with weight lifting, something which may help..or going through more physio..or just do some pull-ups and climbing over the summer and let it align itself..it’s just very annoying and bothersome at times..does anyone else have a similar problem..

Re: The other chip on my shoulder...

i have THIS in my right shoulder abdullah bhai :-)

job requires heavy lifting and lots of upper-body moving like stretching, jumping 6/7 feet from ground..

it originally started with an accident too.. i was loading and while making the wall of stuff, i had to put a lil heavy stuff on top of wall.. so i was throwing it back'n forth so it can land properly.. eventually it did.. and i realized its going to slip out soon.. by time i cautioned and tried moving away, it landed straight.. now i'm pretty quick in saving my head.. so it landed on shoulder..

i use loads of iodized salt during the pain periods.. i increase my milk-intake from 3/4th litre to 2 litres.. (believe me, bone-material is what makes it go away)..

it never goes away really though.. heating pads help me a lot..

best heating pads are the ones filled with sand, and u have to microwave them for 2-3 minutes.. heat one for 4 minutes flat.. make sure u have a tank/banyaan on, put this on top of that, but under the shirt.. and lie down when u go for sleeping.. its lil uncomfy to sleep with heating coming near your neck.. but when u wake up, it would have completed its magic..

worst time is THIS .. :-) specially when i'm JUST getting "in" form for the extreme workout from work, and cricket and everything-in-middle..

Re: The other chip on my shoulder...

i would be more interested to find out about the heating pads. do you do it to reduce pain or just get smooth motion in your shoulder. I tend to have problem with teh latter part. pain is not really an issue; just getting back the fluid motion and getting rid of the nagging feeling of partial separation. In reality, it's not a separation - only a disalignment at the rotator cup area. this time i am thinking about going through an extended physio routines similar to something i did last year and see if i can put it behind me for good..
