The order of Rakahs in Salah

AsSalaamo Alaikum!

Is it generally acceptable to pray Fard rakah if someone is unsure if they’d get enough time to pray later before Salah time passes. But then is able to have enough free time to pray the Sunnah Muakkadah.

Example: Zuhr time arrives. You get a break shortly after Zuhr adhan. The break is only long enough to either pray 4 Fard or 4 Sunnah Muakkadah. So, you pray Fard to ensure that you have fulfilled the core rakahs of the salah. However, during Zuhr time, an hour before Asr you end up getting enough free time to also pray the 4+2 Sunnah Muakkadah.

Is this order of salah acceptable in the given circumstances where there’s a chance that if lunch is delayed, a person may miss the Salah on time altogether? The first break is sure to happen within Salah time. Lunch most likely is too, but it may cut too close to risk.

JazakAllah Khair for the feedback.

Re: The order of Rakahs in Salah

I don't know

but there is no late time (no prohibition) for praying Zuhr till Asr time

Re: The order of Rakahs in Salah

as far as i know, the only sunna [2 ruk'at] before fajar should be offered before the fard but again if you are running the risk of making fajar qazaa then you must do the fard first.

one example of what i mean:

if you enter masjid and the fard namaaz is in progress...you should do the sunnat first then join the jamaa'at even if you miss one or both rak'at...complete the missed part of your fard namaaz after the imaam says "assalaamo alaikum wa raHmatullah" as usual.

this is one of the reasons why imaam uses long surahs in fajar to allow the late comers to finish their sunna first and then join the jamaa'at.

Walaikumussalam

Well if any knowledgeable person can answer but as far as i know only i heard about fajar sunnah if it is missed, you may perform it after fard (because hadith shows its virtue, ulema e karam allowed to do in this way)but better not to miss it as the above one said. Rest i am not sure you can perform 4sunnah mukaddah once you have permformed fard, but yes two sunnah can be done, which is offcoursr after fard.

Allah knows best, may Allah make it easy for us to perform in order in an any condition Ameen

Re: The order of Rakahs in Salah

JazakAllah khair for your replies. I asked a shaykh about it, and was informed that it is no problem if it's circumstantial. Should do our best to maintain order of rakat in salah because that is the sunnah, and the norm. Allah knows best, and we are rewarded for our niyyah.

Re: The order of Rakahs in Salah

According to my knowledge and understanding: There is no Qiza for Sunah (Muqadah or gair-muqadah), nor there is end time. Qiza is only for Fard, because they are obligatory and should be done, even when time has passed.

Actually, we should understand that Sunnah is not fard (Sunnah is not obligatory). We do Sunnah because Prophet (SAW) used to do that. If one can understand that, answer to your question would become clear.

Prophet (SAW) prayed rikah before Fard Salah and also prayed rikah after Fard Salah (depending on particular Fard Salah). Praying rikah before Fard Salah with intention that one is following Prophet (SAW), than that would be considered as Sunnah. Rest of the rikah would be nafil. Same is true about rikah that one does after Fard Salah.

So, for a particular rikah to be valid as Sunnah, they have to be prayed according to what prophet (SAW) used to do, that is, before Fard Salah or after Fard Salah, as Prophet (SAW) did..

Now think yourself. Prophet (SAW) used to do 2 Rikah (we call that Sunnah) before 2 Rikah Fard Salah in Fajr.

If a person has not done those two rikah before fard (of fajr) and prayed fard, then he can do any number of rakah, even before fajr time ends or after, but certainly that would not be what Prophet (SAW) did … hence cannot be classified as Sunnan. Whatever the circumstances or intention (niyah), they would be nafil (as far as I know).

Same is true with Sunnah of Zuhar, that what should be done before Zuhar Frad Salah as Sunnah, cannot be done after Zuhar fard as Sunnah, regardless of time, circumstances, or intention. One can do 4 rikah Sunnah before fard, and 2 rikah sunnah after fard. Anything different, and they would not be Sunnah but would be Nafil,

sorry ... duplicate post :)

Re: The order of Rakahs in Salah

Thanks for your response, brother Sa1eem. I am trying to adjust to the new change of schedule, and hope to regulate the order of Rakahs as prescribed from Sunnah, insha Allah.
