Why is it so hard to find that one dress that you are in love with? I have seen hundreds and some are gorgeous but I can’t find “the one”. I am not sure about the rukhsati date yet but its early next year so I need a dress!
My issue is I can’t go to Pakistan so I am going to have to send pictures and measurements (OH THE HORROR) to my family so its even harder.
Should I go to Toronto or Chicago? I have never really liked anything there. I feel like you pay more to get something lower quality than Pakistan. Oh and I also don’t want to spend like thousands of dollars on it either.
alot of places in Toronto make custom dresses - they are pricey... but u get to choose what u want with fittings right here and stuff.
not sure how toronto is compared to chicago... but there are options available in Toronto - just a bit pricey I think. I found an outfit that I liked that was around $2000 (before bargaining)
Why is it so hard to find that one dress that you are in love with? .....
:) it's the same way it's hard to find the ONE you wanna marry...like MR. Right! :)
yeah $2K is pricy... im sure there r cheaper options available too.. i havent looked around much
a friend of mine got her wedding dress from chicago for $700 (this was 3 yrs ago tho)
There are homebased designers, but they're such a rip-off! You can get the same thing for much cheaper in Pak. I have the same problem. I don't want to go to Pak, because it'll cost $2500 to go there and get back, PLUS, I can use that money for the wedding here. AND, I can't go there myself, I'll need my parents or sis with me (to help with the picking and choosing of the dress/bargaining, etc;), and that means spending more.. Sigh it's a never-ending cycle, haha :P Although, I don't know where you're located, but here in Toronto/GTA area there are some good designers and places to shop, but you just have to spend quite a bit to get what you want :(
I have the same problem :( but I don't have the heart to trust my family with pics and measurements so I guess your best bet would be to contact the original designer of the dress you like directly and they should be able to make changes according to you and that way you can be almost sure it will look the same. the only problem with this is that its REALLYYYYYYY pricey.. like I have gotten quotes around 3 lakhs pkr :O:O:O so I am considering going to pak but its sooo hard so lets see :) Inshallah everything will work out in the end.. ameen <3
I think it's hard to fall in love unless you can see the clothes in person. It's very important to see the fall and texture of a fabric, the way the kaam sets against it and how it sets of your features. The colors and shades are different in person. Clothes you've seen in photos may or may not be the one but you won't know until you see it in person.
I thought I had found my “One”…loved it for the longest time…and with such certainty felt it would be THE DRESS. I mean it looked so good on the model…the way they arranged the dupatta on her hair…so casual and elegant…she made it look soooo easy. They way the lehnga was spread out beneat ther. She looked like a Mughal princess almost. What I didn’t realy think about was that the photographers position the clothes and model to make her look good. Because…I saw the same dress…on another model walking the ramp…and it looked very mediocre, LOL. I was crushed…in denial for a few moments…as I blinked my eyes…and looked closely at the screen and tried to compare it to the enlarged picture I had saved on the comp. The search for the ONE continues.
