the olive, the fig, the pomengrenate

All mentioned in the holy Qur’an as fruits of jannah, 1500 years ago when there was hardly any scientific research claiming their health benefits.

Today, doctors recommend olive oil as it contains “good” fats. The fig is high in fiber and daily consumption can ease digestion and keep the heart healthy. The benefits of pomengrenate are plenty…it’s one of the richest sources of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that can help in many many ways.

Please share your experiences with any or all of these, and more.

Also remember, the mention of these fruits is not just for the sake of the fruit. These edibles are related to certain eras. Specially in surah Theen.

Most scholars agree to the fact that the mention of these is to denote certain times in human history, specifically related to other prophets.

I really like olives and olive oils btw.

Correct fayax. That is true.

Re: the olive, the fig, the pomengrenate

Olive oil is amazing for skin....it just makes it so soft. Often times I apply a little olive oil to hands after washing the dishes. Or I scrub my hands with a mix of olive oil and sugar. It makes a real difference.

Also, I've read that some people have had success in delaying wrinkles by massaging their face with a couple of drops of olive oil. When I used to do that, I went to get a facial and the lady was surprised at how soft my skin was. I think the Prophet SAWS told his followers to apply olive oil to their skin. And now Japanese research is showing that olive oil can help block the the sun's rays.

It's good for hair as well. It's loaded with vitamin E and contains anti-bacterial properties. It is said that the structure of olive oil is similar to human skin, and so our drinks it up...provided you only use a little bit of it.

Pomengrenate has loaded with antioxidants that is great for anti aging and wrinkes.

Some women swear by it as daily beauty regiment.

Only if we get it year around :(

Do they eat it or put it on their skin?

^ NJGal,

You can get 100% pomegranate juice from the grocery store. I think they have it in stock all year round.

Mostly it's eaten rather than applied...although the juice can applied as well.

Re: the olive, the fig, the pomengrenate

It doesn't taste as good as the freshly squeezed one :( (I know I am spoiled)

Re: the olive, the fig, the pomengrenate

You are suppose to drink it (1/2 a cup a day) and some women say that you won't age.

Re: the olive, the fig, the pomengrenate

grapes r super food too. full of anti oxidants. gives u glowing and bright skin and helps in weight loss

Re: the olive, the fig, the pomengrenate

There are plenty of foods besides pomegranates that can delay the aging process. Aging is inevitable, it WILL happen, but one can age slowly and gracefully. The biggest ENEMY to skin is the SUN! The sun can dry out wet clothes, so you can only imagine what it's doing to your skin. Always apply a good quality sunblock 15-30 minutes prior to going out in the sun. The sun is worse from 10:00-4:00....and is horrible from 10-2:00.

Next is water. All the beauty creams in the world will do squat if your'e not well hydrated. Even your organs (brain, kidneys, etc) are made up of water....and for them to work efficiently and remove toxic waste from your body, drinking water is necessary. Sufficient sleep delays again as well. And so does avoiding alcohol and smoking. For diet, there are a variety of helpful foods such as yogurt, fruit, beans/lentils, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.

Re: the olive, the fig, the pomengrenate

Olive oil has helped me so much this winter...I just found out about it. I used it when my skin was just SO dry, it felt like paper. I would take some olive oil, rub it on my fingers and massage it in every night. In the morning, all my dry skin would be gone and my face felt SOOO SOFT! I didnt have to use as much moisturizer either after I washed it off.

Even though it tastes YUCKY on its own - to me at least - Ive heard a couple of tablespoons of this can help digestin.

Figs have been recommended by my grandmother everytime there was a stomach ache in the house. We always have some at home. Good stuff.
