The night
When the sun is like the final grain of sand
marking the demise of the day’s life
the twilight of the dusk spraying blood,
of a million murdered expectations
the gentle breeze is the sigh of the dying day
the sun, like the leader of a defeated army
gathers its remaining rays and makes its hasty retreat
afraid of the demons to come
the shadows start to advance in swift strides
to ordain their rule over the earth and the heavens
barely does the sun takes its place in the realm of the past
that the night unleashes its full fury
without a single sound, its armies of darkness
tread the earth to fasten their grip on all the things and the minds
Even from the hearts of the people
the minions of darkness raise their heads and
start eroding the thin veneer of humanity
that everyone has worn during the day
the doors of the cages holding the monsters fling open and out they come
to take control of their hosts, turning them into their own reflections
as seen in a warped mirror
the conscience of the sky is pricked
with the infinite crimes against humanity
and each spot of light shows a tear shed for the loss of innocence
or an injustice committed, a life taken, a right stolen…
everywhere I look, I see black
black on the outside black inside
darkness taken full control
A million puppets dancing to an evil tune
with Lucifer holding all the strings.
