The nicest and most likeable cricketer...

What a good topic. Usually we are always thinking of sledgers but we always forget to compliment the guys who keep the game clean. Obviously in every sport, workplace, classroom, society you got your different type of people.

Tendulkar, Razzaq, Youhana, Murali, Dravid.
About Langer, you guys are right. Langer is one of the rare species of extinction left in Australia. He always takes the time to compliment everyone, even if it goes against Australia. (Thats why I enjoy reading his articles on BBC).
-Basically a lot of the Asian players belong on this list.

Affers is a gentleman through and through. Shobby is also right up there with Affers.

As a Moin Akhtar character in Studio Dhai once proclaimed, "Terha baat karay gaa, terha jawab day gaa". I'm proud of my boys.

Shoaib Akhter :D

*Andy Flower * tops my list. He is the most likeable Cricketer. Nicest and most humble gentleman the game has now a days and a very fantastic Cricketer right up there with the best of today.

Edited - According to me There isn't any other player who has not responded to sledging at some point.

u have to be bad to get in to cricket....
and if u aint, u will most probably go bad soon after u start ur international career....
so stop looking for nicies in cricketers....
unless ofcourse they repent and get down to being good guys, like saeed anwar....

Denis Lillee :rotfl:

any way , Saby I agree with your list. add YoYo to it and yu are complete. waisay what about Stephen Fleming, isnt he such a cool fellow

I am surprised that about 80 % of guppies have named Youhana in their list. This is realy strange for me. Yousaf has had his share of getting on people's face.
1) The famous 10 wickets haul of Anil Kumble was a result of continual sledging by MR. Nice , Apparently he was fielding at silly point when Anil came on to bat in the second innings of Dehli test, and he had some words to tell him about his bowling at those flat indian wickets. afterwords Yousaf himself admitted telling Anil that" Tum Gendee wicktoon kai achey bowler hou."
2) Against England at Oldtrafford in 2001, when Andrew Caddick, came to bat, yousaf took the halmet and stood at silly point and had more than a few words with, caddick.

To me the nicest person on acricket field is Sachin Tendulker and waqar younis. The only time in his career when i heard a bad word word from waqar is during the recent world cup, when he told Andrew Symond to **k Off, besides that i have never heard, or seen him acting in a FAST BOWLER manner, evn when he was the fastest bowler nad the Highest paid cricketer on international scence.i have never heard, or seen him acting in a FAST BOWLER manner, evn when he was the fastest bowler and the Highest paid cricketer at international scence*

in the 1992 series against England at Oval Waqar said to Robin Smith " I am going to knock your head of with my bouncer". Smith said afterwards he was scared because of Waqar's speed and could not understand why Waqar was upset with him.

:( Not even a single person have named, my favourite BRAIN LARA :( :( :(

Ehsan i have that series on video, i did not watch it live so may be thats why i miss that. at Oval Smith scored runs in both innings, and he was willing to pull, hook waqar wasim with ease and comparetavely better than rest of english men that summer. but i still think waqar is the best behaved fast bowler i have ever seen. well some times i kindaa dont like it, i mean if i had half as much as talent as waqar has, boy i’ll be at everybody’s face all the time.:kaboom::kaboom::kaboom:

hansie cronje (late), wasim akram, paul reiffel (retired), darrel tuffey, courtney walsh (retired), sanath jayasuriya, muttiah muralitharan, rahul dravid, misbah-ul-haq etc

sleDging

i don't know much about others but among aussies

martyn
langer
harvey
bevan
mark

and a lot of pakistani players are nice but i think thats becoz they don't feel very confident speaking english, thus try to avoid the whole situation but

saeed
yo yo

and i honestly believe that sledging within limits is part of game, :( may be coz my friends complain about my behaviour all da time, just can't keep my mouth shut opposite to my off field behaviour

well thats only against indians though

Thanks for all your replies.

for those who are wondering why Lara is not included in some people's lists is because he had a terrible history with ian Healy, Mcgrath and fe australians (well who hasnt a history with aussies:D )

I agree with most common choices like Murali, Razzaq, Youhaana, Saeed, Younis, and surprised with Fleming mentioned only once or twice.

No Dravid here please, he was very abusive in last series with england and also on couple of occassions against Pak and NZL.

I will add Nathan Astle, Shane Bond, Darren Gough to this list.

Jonty Rhodes.

Dravid abusive?? u sure saby? that lamb of a personality cannot be aggressive for his life!!!

You indeed have a miopic eye, dont you ? I really doubt that you even watched or followed that game.

First of all Dravid Didn's start it, He never starts it but If you abuse him he will give you a mouthful. ( Go and watch Dravid-Donald duel in South Africa ). Anyways in the Mumbai test While batting he played a shot towards Michael Slater who caught it and claimed that it was a catch and Dravid was out. Dravid thought otherwise and stood his ground, Slater Called him a 'Liar' then and in the mean time Umpire Venkat referred the matters to 3rd Umpire who gave the decision in Dravid's favor.

Despite the 3rd umpire's decision Slater went to argue with the field Umpire and called Dravid 'F**k You' - Dravid responded in Slater's Language and told him 'You too'. If that's sledging then I am really proud of Dravid and Iwish that he does more and more to every a-hole like Slater.

Slater was later called by the Match referree and let off like every Aussie has been in recent years.

".....Dravid pulled a short ball from Fleming in the direction of Slater at square leg things came to a boil. Diving low, Slater scooped the ball up and claimed the catch. Umpire Venkataraghavan was not convinced about the legality of the catch and referred the matter to the third umpire. Television replays suggested that the ball had come off the turf. Ruled not out by the third umpire, Dravid watched in shock as Slater went over to umpire Venkat and exchanged words with him. The New South Welshman appeared to be less than impressed with the decision. If that was not enough, Slater went across to Dravid and gave him a piece of his mind. Unfortunately, **the things he said are probably not the kind that any editor would allow to go to print. **Suffice it to say that Slater overstepped the line. Match referee, Cammie Smith of the West Indies looked into the matter and let off Slater with a warning. It remains to be seen whether the Australian Cricket Board will take any action on their own." That's Cricinfo

Now I am sure you and your friends will accuse cricinfo of lying and blah blah blah...
