So, this email drops into my inbox yesterday, actually sent by my mammu, who is very active in distributing all that he thinks will be usefull for all.
I was going through it and wasn’t sure at all as to how to take it. Should I have rejected and deleted it. But then I thought that I should find out if there’s any truth to this book. Here is the text of the email, followed by pictures of the pages. Feel free to flame if your heart desires:

The new AMERICAN Quran: a dangerous trick.
A new Quran is being distributed in Kuwait , titled ‘The True Furqan’.
It is being described as the ayats of the Shaytan and Al-Furqan weekly
magazine has found out that the two American printing Companies;
‘Omega 2001’ and ‘Wine Press’ are involved in the publishing of ‘The True Furqan’, a book which has also been titled ‘The 21st Century Quran’!
It has over 366 pages and is in both the Arabic and English languages…it is being
distributed to our children in Kuwait in the private English schools!
The book contains 77 Surats, which include Al-Fatiha, Al-Jana and Al-Injil. Instead of Bismillah, each Surat begins with a longer vesion of this incorporating the Christian belief of the three spirits..
And this so called Quran opposes many Islamic beliefs. in one of its ayats it describes having more than one wife as fornication, divorce being non-permissible and it uses a new system for the sharing out of the will, opposing the current one. It states that
Jihad is HARAAM.
All this is poisoning our children at approx. price of US $3.
My belief in the Qur'an as we have it is solid and I do not need a change or the need to venture out for more information. I may have if I had a doubt. I wouldn't even look at it for comparitive analysis or for a light read or for passing time.
But that's just me. I like to keep my faith simple.
It was first released among troops in middle east. As it turns out, occupation usually carries with it fruits such as spread of ideology and preaching. But, fortunately the book was quickly spotted, rebuted, and the awareness has been on the rise to a point where everyone now knows about it.
Another thing to be careful of, and this is widespread in Asian communities specifically is that we take anything caligraphic literally without actually reading what it says.
Case in point the phrase "Rabbana aatina fi dunya" which is a verse from the Holy Quran to mean "Our Lord! Grant us good in this world..." as opposed to what Christians missionaries would give out to deprived folks who know no better and take any arabic text to mean something of the Quran, for example the simple change of one word can change the entire meaning if you replace Rabbana with "Abbana" which means "Father" or "O Father" or "Our Father"..which when translated is beyond the shadow of doubt from non-muslim source(s), because muslims don't refer to God as 'Father'..no matter the language.
Another prime example, and place yourself in this position for a second: If i presented you as a gift a piece of decoration that looked very exquisite and classy and it read what seems like "Muhammad" (s.a.w.) you would take it w/out hesitating, but would you actually read it carefully to see what it says? What if it was written "Muhabbah" instead? Which means love... :) Had you ignored it, you would be successfully deceived to think what you've received is the name of prophet (s.a.w.) when infact it is not.
I mean, these are just tiny example. And i realize it's literally micromanaging, but just something to think about. We should learn to look with the eye of our mind and heart lest we remain blind.
We must become intelligently aware, and know our scripture so our naive communities are not deceived. The age of fitnah is the most challenging time muslim ummah will face. And it brings to memory a hadith where beloved Prophet (s.a.w.) said, and i paraphrase "I see fitnah coming down on my ummah like rain, and no house is safe from it". Fitnah comes in many forms and variations, and in today's age it is usually in the form of misinformation. Let us educate ourselves more people. Our faith is on line here, and everything else that we take for granted.
