The new plutonium reactor

There is a news story circulating all over that Pakistan is building a new expanded plutonium enrichment plant near the old facility in Khushab. This presumably will increase the current capacity to produce nuclear weapons by 20 times. Is that true? Can someone tell me what is really going on or is it all      unnecessary hype??

Beautiful news, music to my ears. :k:

Superb news :k:

Re: The new plutonium reactor

You guys are feeling proud - but the immpression in the rest of the world will be negative.

Pakistan's Economy depends on the Goodwill of USA and the West. Even Russia tried to match it's arsenal to USA, and finally crashed due to the unbearable burden on it's economy.

The result will be simple, India too will expand it's nuclear capabilities. And this cycle will continue till one of them falls flat on their face.

The rest of the World now ensure that Democracy returns to Pakitan. They will want a Civilian government in Pakistan and Musharaff's day's are numbered.

Re: The new plutonium reactor

^^^ rest of the world always will have negetive about Pakistan, while they dont see anything done by India or Israel in this regard and sharing nuke techs with them.

Pakistan need to have more nuclear reactors to produce to run new nuclear power plants as well. If we dont get it ready made from others we have no option but to try to produce it inhouse.

Pakistan nuclear program has never been stopped by any government, civilian or army ones.

But popping out this report at this time should have some thing to it. be it F-16's deal or something else. even according to reports it has started in 2000 not now.

Re: The new plutonium reactor

This is the kind of impression that is given, Pak economy yada yada yada!!! let me tell ya something.. The world was against Pak nuke program from the start and we became a nuke power despite all kinds of sanctions and threats for 20 years.. Amreeka is the least of my concerns its a pussy that barks the actual threat comes from our own politicians… But so long its in the hands of the military, no worries there…

Re: The new plutonium reactor

The plant is under construction for the last 6 years. No need to panic Oh Bharatis.

David Albright's essay is more geared towards US Congress as it considers the US-Bharati Nukie deal.

Let's not all roiled up in cross border spat. We both are as they say Kings of our hills.

Re: The new plutonium reactor

US says it’s cool if the facility isnt used for military purpose.

Foreign office remains cool and says the report is nothing surprising.

Re: The new plutonium reactor

Actually that facility will most probably be used for military purpose, if one looks at its size and capability. I dont think US will object coz they even let off A Q Khan, so like I guess they wont be concerned about this reactor.

Re: The new plutonium reactor

Good analysis. US and Pakistan are close Allies. So no problem with Khushab reactor.

Having said that, US's favorible stance puts a huge responsibility on Pakistani leadership. We must never shake US's confidence in us that we can protect our assets and keep them safe. We should make sure no new nukie khan ever gets a hold of our sacred secrets.

Re: The new plutonium reactor

How will this benefit Pakistan civilian energy needs?

Re: The new plutonium reactor

“US and Pakistan are close allies”

What kind of weed r u smoking??

They r reluctant to give us old and outdated F-16’s and u r saying they are close allies. Try to read between the lines my friend!!!:halo: :halo: :halo:

Re: The new plutonium reactor

LOL… Why these people make such statements when they dont know about F-16s and its weapons package which we’re getting?! :halo:

Re: The new plutonium reactor

I would rather Pak opt for a reliable supplier of advanced jets, such as the Swedes, who I believe make the Grippen, comparable to the F16.

Re: The new plutonium reactor

Well since u pretend to know all the intricate details about this F-16 package, Please enlighten me. I am all ears. By the way the congress is asking for more guarantees and conditions b4 they pass the deal. Also r u telling me that these planes are comparable in quality to what Israeli air force has???

Re: The new plutonium reactor

No, the swedes use amreekan engine, the best suplier would be France, Russia/China. F16 is interim solution since we have the infrastructure in place, for long run like our Al-Khalids and Agostas we should aim for J10/J11 from the Chinese with TOT.

Re: The new plutonium reactor

That’s your thinking. Dont misqoute my words

Not congress. Only a couple of congressmen are making unnecessary voice, who are anti-China, and are members of Indian caucus/funded by indians… so its a normal behavior you know

lol, “quality” of all the material used in planes is same. Latest Israeli F-16s are F-16 block 52+ (named as F-16I for israel), and we’re also getting the same f-16s with all the goodies, except anti-radiation missiles and aim-9x (which are not even in service yet). These two missiles CAN be acquired later on, when the time of delivery of new f-16 comes.

The “old” f-16s which you are talking about, will be given a Mid Life Update (MLU). This will make them as capable as the latest version of f-16s

1 2 3 4, these links should be enough to ‘enlight’ you.

Now back to the topic: Because its a huge reactor, capable of producing 1000 MW, i guess it’lll be used to produce energy, as well as weapons.

PS. We are going off-topic. Please close this f-16 talk here

Re: The new plutonium reactor

Subhan'Allah. A good story. Pakistan needs all the electricity it can get hold of.

Re: The new plutonium reactor

this is not a new news story.

pakistan has been working on this reactor for quite a while now.

are you comparing pakistan with the soviet union?
how silly can you get?
