Just a little bit behind the news, but I just learnt about the new HST and some of the reasons Ontario implemented it.
So can someone tell their opinion of whether McGuinty’s decision to implement it was a wise decision, or was it hastened due to the worldwide economic crisis, and did it overlook some other crucial points, keeping in mind the current state of Ontario and Canada and our position during the meltdown. Do you think the HST is the miracle cure that McGuinty wishes it would be, even though the Canadian economy is still so seriously dependent on the American one? And personally, how is it going to affect your daily life, seeing that it taxes a few things that weren’t taxed before, eg gas, internet facilities, new houses over $400,000 etc.
