just to clear a few points. what china is doing may be profitable in the short term but it will surely harm the country in the long run. if u look at it this way, every couple has to feed 7 people - parents of the husband and wife, the husband and wife themselves and their child. so the percentage of working population in the whole population will reduce drastically over a short period of time. do u think china can sustain itself at that point?

China has done good for last 20 years on the other hand India is poised to claim the status of the most populas country in the world. India adds the population of Australia each year on the other hand Chinese population has stablized. At this rate India will double its population in 30 to 40 years a recpie for disaster.

according to your statistics india's gnp would have been higher
in 1947 with less population when compared to 2003.
the reverse is true. life expectancy is higher now than in 1947.

food production 1950 50 miilion ton population 361 miilion

food production 2000 200 milion ton population 1000 milion

China has suffered in the tech boom because unlike India, it doesn't produce english-speaking IT graduates.

Once China starts producing anglophonic IT grads, then it will be in a position to threaten the Indian IT industry (together with the IT industry in the rest of the world.)

Right. Except if it happens 10 years from now when China's standard of living is high and incomes have increased, it won't be as cheap anymore. That is the Catch 22 of success based on cost. You get more work, but you become richer with it. Then the costs go up. Same thing is possible in India, but it's income levels are 50% of China's.

china zindabad :k:

Only food production is not enough you also need the infrastructure for distribution. Why do you think Indian grain rots while 500M starve.

i agree goverment policy is responsible for famine.
china earlier policies were responsible for famine

Historically, China suffered from more than its share of famines. Poor communication and transportation networks made it difficult for markets in grain to emerge. Combined with political instability, this often meant that a localized crop failure led to famine since importing food from other parts of the country was extremely difficult. As an example, about 5 million people died during a famine in the 1940s exacerbated by civil war and the policies of the nationalist KMT (1).

In October 1955, Mao ordered Chinese peasants to be organized into collectives of 100-300 families. He would later order even larger collectives to be organized. As a result, in 1956 grain yields fell by up to 40 percent. Not satisfied, Mao ordered farmers to put into practice several Lysenko-ist practices, which combined with the collectivization, decimated Chinese agriculture (

Yes Rvikz that was long time ago as a matter of fact Mao's great leap forward was responsible for the death of 30M Chinese. Today China is very different.

Salamzzzz pple
