Hmm…not sure if I should say, “I see what you did there”.
Re: The negativity that permeates Pakistanis
oh and the hug was for monk, not for you. sorry contra. its ramzan etc, hows your zikr today?
Re: The negativity that permeates Pakistanis
And why would that be? Most of the women, given the rights and awareness, would choose global standards on these issues as long as they don't "entirely" clash with their religious sensitivities.
ps. I am far from elite and certainly not in Pak. Now dont use that against me in the discussion.
Because as an example the biggest opponents to the Women's bills in Pakistan have come from Jamaat women in parliament and on the street. There are very different views on what are the the appropriate rights of women and what does or does not clash with religious sensitivities.
And back to my point on opinion and validation of point of view one certain clique holds. Why would you assume most women in Pakistan when given the awareness would choose the western model of women's rights. Yes the global standards are Western Standards.
When I reference elite I do not mean the 500 families who run the country. I am referring to a proper education which allows free thinking and not rote memorization, which you don't have in Pakistan. Secondly that is why I gave the example of Lyon and Dera Ismail Khan. I have nothing in common in with them either. But that is the point. The Western Educated elite or minority as you will is far removed from the ground realities of 75% of the country.

Did you see hug back from me? No, right!

How can we be certain that these Jamat women aren't working on the behest of someone else? Given the way politics is done in general., and Pak in particular, it is quite possible these ladies are working for some other interests, rather than for the issue at hand.
For now, despite our squirming, Western standards have come to be seen as benchmark. If Pakistanis or Muslims can come up with more efficient and practical standards, the world would obviously coverge to those standards.
Re: The negativity that permeates Pakistanis
There is just too much negativeness in PA forums just too much
Re: The negativity that permeates Pakistanis
Yes and a 'Pakistani' in PA/WA forum has been known to have IP address from neighboring country and wrote something like:
"We are to be blamed for our problems in Pakistan etc."
Ref: Vice President said so.
