Who are your favorite interesting characters on the Pakistani Political Scene?

Tehmina Daulata - the lady is a huge drama and fun to watch

Musarrat Shaheen - need i say more? Her campaign speeches vs. Molana Fazlur Rehman were too funny

Who else would Pir Fraudia nominate??

of course..its Pir Pagara...that dude.. his statements to the papers were so dang ridiculous..e.g. he is the best patang baaz, or his kukkar is the best kukkar in kukkar fights..

he always had some hidden meanings and a sly ange to his statements, but it was interesting reading his ahmeqana bakbak.

oh how true..how could i forget :D

another namoona...okay namooni

benazir..

she whines whines whines..half the time if u pay attention to what she is saying..she makes false claims, she makes statements that are obviously self serving and nothign more..

she is just so dang annoying...i mean for spending that much time in harvard and oxford, her english seems more like that of some vietnamese immgrant at Miami dade community college's ESL programme.

Heyyyyy, Sheikh Rasheed is from Pindi ... not from Karachi .. he is a one of a kind! I have heard his stories when he was a student at Gordon College.

Actually, all of Musharrafs chamchas right now are namoonaz, my favourite ones are

Chaudhry Shujaat, aka local Gujrati Badmash, who converted into an angel after swearing allegiance to Musharraf

Shiekh Rashid, the sher from Lal Hawali, who has changed sides more than anyone in the political scene. Right now, hes musharrafs best chamcha

Pindi Pindi aye!

Press Freedom, Mushy style.

http://www.nation.com.pk/daily/may-2004/11/EDITOR/edi2.asp

On Sunday a private TV channel which had been advertising a live interview with Mian Shahbaz Sharif, cancelled it minutes before it was to be telecast. The host informed viewers that “We are ashamed we could not telecast the interview” and “vowed to continue the struggle for the freedom of the media.” When asked if there had been any state pressure on the administration to kill the programme, he replied, “no comments.” The remarks speak for themselves. The extent and nature of the pressure brought on in this case is elaborated in a news report. It claims that the private TV channel’s management was actually threatened by the personnel of government agencies with closure of their Karachi offices and with the possibility of being picked up and shifted to unknown locations. These are nothing short of tactics employed by the most repressive regimes.

Imdad... put this in context, man... why in this thread?

what about aba jee :)

Sorry, meant this for shahbaz sharif thread.

MNA ROKHORI (FINANCE)

you are right. but Pak is still better regarding freedom of press ,
when compared to other Muslim countries.
there is always room for more improvement.
that doesn’t mean that we Pak is a role model country or something.
nope.

We can EASILY be a role model for the rest of the muslim world. It really wouldn't be too hard when you look at the arab world and comapre it to our democractic traditions. That's what pains me that we don't value our democractic insitutions and let the army take over every 5 years.
