The Minimum Requirements - (Al Fard Al 'Ayn) for being Muslim

Peace All

We’ve all heard the famous hadith that we need to undertake “5 pillars” properly - a certain sahabi would do no more and no less - together with sincerity then this should be enough for him.

But how do we interpret this?

Scholars have put together something called the Fard Al-'Ayn which are the basic things we need to have in place to be Muslim.

These are them listed here:

To study and understand one of the 'aqaid of Ahul-us-Sunnah (Simplest = Al-Tahawiyya)
To learn Tajweed
To learn Arabic (understanding)
To Memorise one juz of the Qur’an
To gain knowledge of basic Fiqh

Obviously to complete the Shahadah - we learn about the 'aqeedah and then we should prepare our hearts to accept it and then bear witness to it. If born in Islam then there is no need to make a public declaration.

Most of the rest are based on what we need to have in order to pray … and then to pray effectively … fiqh covers the method of prayer as well as method of observing the other pillars … however, other pre-requisites for prayer are to learn Arabic elocution in order to pronounce the words well and then to understand what we read we learn Arabic and also to memorise chapters in order to recite them in prayer …

As a result we have an entry level Muslim …

**Have we asked ourselves whether we have fulfilled our basics in Islam to call ourselves Muslims?

If no … then act now and learn your Deen … at least the basics … **
