The Middle Finger & Embarrassment

Ok so this is a tough one! My dad has a habit of using the middle finger when explaining or pointing at things.

The other day I was at the bank with him and we were discussing things with this gorgeous looking consultant ..she was like a statue of a super model pulled right out of the showcase of a designer’s shop. My dad was goin on with his business related stuff while I was looking at her praising god for his creation when suddenly my dad points his middle finger right at her face and directs her to some important clauses written on the document he was reading.
I don’t think my dad noticed it but both of us got a little embarrassed…I acted as if I had not noticed it but then that wasn’t the end of it…We all read the document as my dad ran us through the details pointing his middle finger at all the important details.
She looked at me and smiled…that was the best part…but I was like abba ji tussi zindagi kithay guzari aay!

Anyway long story short how do you tell your elders ‘please don’t do this as it is not appropriate’…any ideas?

:hehe: live with it…:hehe:

Dont worry...alot of people do it. My dad does it to everyone... noone has noticed yet though ;)

it shouldnt be so hard to tell them not to do it..i wouldnt want anyone to think that my dad is rude or has bad manners..i hope u know what i mean..they are not aware of the environment as much as the youngsters so i dotn think its rude to point out to them

yeah dude, pk is right. just live with it. i have a million or so more things to tell daddy cool. but no matter how sincere i am in my will to let him know of the proper etiquettes, he'll always take the message that im being picky at him on purpose

Anyway long story short how do you tell your elders ‘please don’t do this as it is not appropriate’…any ideas?

Don't You'll never get a smile again from a beautiful lady.

So, your dad did half the work for ya and you're still complaining?

:hehe: :rotfl:

PS: PAthwariiiiiiii.. long time no see .. where are you these days hain..?

behind my monitor, readin other's posts.

hmm.. just explain it out to him… it always helps… my dad had a habit of sayin condoms (slip of the tongue i’m sure… many times  ) … instead of condos… told him its soooooo not the short version of condominiums … was :blushed: but it saved us from additional embarassment

I've always made it a point to correct my elders whomever it may be, I certainly don't believe in "baroun ko nahi toktay" thats bull sugar.

Elders and youngsters alike shouldn't be allowed to be pardoned if at a mistake.

My dad had the middle finger pointing problem, all i did was grab his index finger and let him continue :) politely ofcourse, he was puzzled at first but I told him its a bad gesture :)

My prof. used to do it too, she was british english, everyone in the class couldn't help giggling, the poor teacher finally understood and corrected herself.

come on man. tat is ok. :hehe:
no really it is. hahaha
i am sorrie for u man. but dont worry. why dont u stop looking at his finger at start looking at wat hes pointing to. tat is gonnahelp

hahahahahahahaha this is funny

I had a teacher in college who used to point like that :hehe:

I dont think you need to explain anything to your father. The middle finger means nothing in isolation without the facial expression that goes along with it when you really-truly- badly want to flick somebody off.

I am quite certian people realise that he does not mean any disrespect.
let him point at whoever he wants to..SO WHAT!!.. & WHO CARES! You should enjoy being around your father and dont make him feel concious

Do what I do. Once in a while my mom does that… I simply take her finger, tuck it in…take her index finger. She continues with her pointing business…after a brief pause and a little sheepish smile.
However, with my dad…I pretend I don’t know a single thing related to any of the fingers.

Sounds familiar *sigh

Well sometimes no matter how hard you try to explain it doesnt work *sigh

I told aba ji.. when you point hand with five fingers wide open it means "lanaat" . And that consider to be bad. And this middle finger means something similar to it.

Obviously a girl cant tell her aba ji it means a curse *yikes.. perhaps i can get my younger brother break the news *sigh

So I'm not the only one going through a rough time..ok that makes me feel a little better... Khawateen that condos one was hilarious!

i always think of it as the internationally recognized sign of friendship :nono3: (that other interpretation :D)

:hehe:

Khaw…LOL tht was hilarious! MAN! :hehe:
