A lot of discriminatory policies that Pakistan has were promulgated during the Zia era. Many of the most regressive and extremist forms of religiosity found their greatest patron in Zia.

All humans are prone to error. ZAB was no exception. In his last days when 9-Stars created by army running a processions and demonstrations against ZAB sponsored by army, he made a mistake there. He should not have done this. Like he begged Indira Gandhi to release 95000 POW's most of them were involved in heinous crimes and he rehabilitated defeated army were a biggest mistakes of his life. These mistakes cost him heavily and same defeated army hanged him and sent his dead body to his ancestor's village.

It was Zia-ul-Haq not ZAB who unleashed punitive actions against Ahmedi's. ZAB was no more in power when that happened. Constitution was then thrown in the sewerage by the dictator making null and void any thing passed by ZAB. Dictator implemented laws prepared by JI.
