The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

The Memo has been under discussion in Pakistani politics now a days, some says asked SC to take Suo-Motto against it ( i wonder, why they always want Judiciary to take Suo-Motto, why don’t file a petition, specially when you have whole lot of lawyers with you), some are demanding for a commission to be formed…

Anyway, NS today stood firm and said any un-constitutional move to topple the govt would be resisted and this came after rumors that the Establishment have decided to get rid of Govt and for that this MEMO is going to be the base case.

For this matter, Hussain Haqani is already summoned to Pakistan and as per news reports he is on his ways, sayings are, Haqani will be the escape-goat in all this saga…

Anyway, the most interesting move came from Zardari, when Rehman Malik today said that the Murderers and Planners of BB shall be unmasked on the direction of the party, now the timing of such statement is very crucial, Malik Sb, if you know who are the murderers, arrest them, prosecute them… you’ve been saying this from last 4 years and you say that everytime you see there is danger to the govt..

By the way, the Notorious Qatil League, is partner of Zardari..so who else is there to blame? Kiyani? Pasha?

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

No unconstitutional move will be tolerated, according to Nawaz Sharif. That's great, so would he please let the people know what his current movement against the present government is for? How can he constitutionally replace the government before the next Senate elections? If he has some 'geedhar singhi' he should let the people know. What was Shahbaz Sharif saying during the previous jalsa (in which he was asking Zardari to hand over his government and loot otherwise he will hang him)? Maybe that was constitutional as well.

As far as the memogate scandal is concerned, if its true then the people need to judge by themselves (that a president of so called sovereign country is asking help from COAS of a foreign country against the COAS and intelligence agencies of one's own country). If its wrong then that needs to be made public as well, and the people involved in the saazish should be brought to the knowledge of the people.

If Rahman malik knows the killers of Benazir, then now one is stopping him from making their names public as well.

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

It look likes if PTI ever comes into govt they want let any opponent to have any rally to outset them!!!

Just for your info, having rallies, demonstration against govt, asking them to quit or for new elections is perfectly democratic and legal and there is nothing wrong with it by any mean, on the other hand not allowing such thing is what can be labeled as un-constitutional...

So i guess your comment is answered here.

And how would you plan to do that?

That is the trick, there is lot more to it, this is card Zardari used in 2008 elections and this is the card he is going to use again, if he is forced to quit, he can issue a report saying, Kiyani, the Head of ISI then is also involved in the murder and he is being thrown out of power because he (zardari) was about to arrest him...

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

Just a question: Pressure of "establishment" to force Zardari to resign after "Memogate" and announcing new elections.... is this un-constitutional? Isn't this what NS is campaigning for?

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

My question still remains how can you oust a government constitutionally through rallies?? When are the elections supposed to be held as per the constitution? and whats the constitutional way of replacing the government?

As far as the memogate is concerned the government is in problem due to that and they need to give answers to the public, it depends how they handle the issue.

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari’s Answer

A Memo was sent and the Americans (including Panetta acknowledge that), now who sent the memo and on whose directives that’s the only question.

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

Pressure to resign is different then sending home the elected govt by 111 brigade, hope you know the difference between the two!~!!

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

^ if you think the government will resign by those rallies alone, keep waiting till the next elections which are due in 2012/2013.

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

For that you need to study more...

Few Examples from Pakistani & International history...

Bhutto led demonstration forced Ayoub to resign ( well what happened next was not desired but it was rallies who outset the Dictator then, isn't it)

Zain Al-Abadeen ( i think this was the name) ex-president of Tunis was pressured to resign when public was rallying against him..

and list continue... BTW, if rally and demonstration is not the way, kindly tell me what IK was doing in HTMB rallies???

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

If i recall it right, the memo issue is not out of the blue, it was there out in a while for some time, there were columns by Hamid Meer and others on it... what is surprising to me is the momentum it got right after eid...

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

You need to tell that to IK

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari’s Answer

^ but nawaz sharif does not command that kind of support that bhutto had in 1970 (its debatable if he had or not have establishment support at that time). I wont go into history, see the demonstrations in Syria, Egypt and Tunisia they are very different to the demonstrations PMLN is carrying out against the government.

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

And hope you also know that, something like this is not gonna happen. Establishment is not that stupid. All they need to do is throw some documents about Murtaza Bhutto murder, some hidden bank accounts, arrest some middlemen, make Rehman Malik sing. And if that does not work, allow Scotland yard interview the two guys arrested to bring MQM on-board.

Man there are million ways establishment can use its leverage. And this happens everywhere in the world... more so in USA or other Western countries where strong lobbies make things happen...

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

Nothing above compares the killers the of BB!!! Period!!! Sympathy back to Zardari (this is atleast what Zardari thinks)

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari’s Answer

Does IK Command???

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

^ I am not imran's spokesman nor is he my relative. The thing is that I have tested pmln for the past 15-20 years, and I have seen people's parties successive governments and their policies for the country. The people want change now, try some one new (he might prove to be a disaster for the country or he might prove to be good). If he doesn't deliver believe you me the people supporting him now will be his biggest critics. The country is continuously going downwards not even stable at a point after this mammoth slide. Pmln is in the opposition they should have acted like a shadow government and offered alternative policies to what the government is offering. But after all these years I see peeli taxis for providing jobs to the educated people.

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

That sympathy has gone. People are not going to cry river if Zardari is kicked out. West will play along, for they know who really pulls strings in Pak. What will Zardari chose, if given a choice between few billion dollars (residing in few hidden account) or presidency, is anybody's guess.

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

You will be surprised!!! I hope i am wrong here...

Re: The Memo Politics and Zardari's Answer

I just read the memo on Wikipedia. I bet the army is pissed off by this memo. I am sure nothing will happen though as all involved (zardari, kiyani etc) will be paid off by the US
