so do you dads allow your sons to play with dolls or kitchen play sets and other girly toys?
and moms, do you allow your girls to… see.. it doesnt as bad ..a girl playing with power tools.
so lets stick to dads. what’s your say?
im not talking bout an 8 yr old boy who wants to play with barbies… im talking bout your toddler.. upto say age 4?
mine is 2 months short of turning 2… and he loves to play with everything.. doesnt really have a preferance for dolls or kitchen sets… but when he is visiting say a friend’s house.. who has daugthers.. naturally their toys are of the girly kind… ive noticed how much he was copying how i treat him as a baby.. like he changed the dolls diaper, put it in the crib then put his hands out and said ana hai goddi mein? before picking it up… then he put it in the stroller and walked around saying he was grocery shopping… i think it was super cool… his dad on the other hand was worried that his son’s penis was gonna fall off at the amount of hours he spent with the doll and her home set…
so i came home and said we should get midget a doll set… husband once again reminded me of the fact that things with a pee pee dont play with girly toys and dolls are a no no. .. unless its a g i joe doll or something to that effect.
then came along the topic of play kitchens… now midget has his fair share of pots and pans and cutlery sets.. thats ok … but when looking a kitchen sets.. its just weird how they were all girly colors… so husband has a problem with that too… instead of a kitchen set.. he wants to get him a grill play set
erm ok… now if only he knew what the hell you do with a grill we would be set!
so other dads.. whats your take? i find it silly… your son wont go gay just cuz it plays with dolls and kitchen sets.
I am not a dad but my 2 year old goes to a daycare where they have both kitchen sets, dolls and tools table in his class. Both girls and boys play with all of these.
I have seen all boys in his class playing with dolls. (They even have a male version of a baby doll which I frankly never saw before)
He loves playing with utensils.
He also likes to put on both his father's shoes and my sandals if he sees them.
He is usually around me when praying so he also insists that I put a dupatta on his head while he lies down on the prayer mat.
But then he also loves planes, trucks, cars and tools so I do not see any problem if he palys with dolls or anything.
I will not buy him a play kitchen because I never thought of it but I might buy him those teasets or something to play with and not get all my pots and pans out.
like he changed the dolls diaper, put it in the crib then put his hands out and said ana hai goddi mein?
what a bad mom you are .. toba toba ...
This is what other might say, but I say that its all cool. Kids are kids. As long as they are having fun, does it matter. When my daughter was 3, I bought her a toy tool set. She loved it./
My nephew loves girls toys and wants to buy them for other girls in the family so he can play with them. we had a chance to talk to his doctor and he said its natural for boys to do and also because girls toys have variety and are fun to play with!
Kids copy mothers, so if he sees you in the kitchen working, he knows what he is supposed to do with the microwave or the bailan by watching YOU. Thats the reason i am sure he enjoys kitchen toys. My husband is the same as yours, he thinks girls should play with dolls and utensils while boys play with cars. Btw, mine loves cars but we havent bought her many at all. BUt she loves to play with other kids' cars when they visit or when we visit them. Must be a guy thing to not let your child play with the opposite gender toys? Am i generalizing too much here??
when my son was 2 and a half, he loved dora, the tv cartoon. and he wanted to have the guriya. my huby said, ok us ko le do...
he played with it nearly a year, us ke baad , no interest...
ira: exactly… i told my husband that if he saw his dad playing with cars then he would wanna do that too… its just what he is familiar with.. learning as he sees… i think its a guy thing… he wont budge on the doll business but is opening up to a kitchen set.. IF it comes in non girly colors… i think that i can deal with. he has loads of cars.. doesnt play with them… all he does is.. holds the front or back wheels with his thumb and index finger.. and swivels them around to make the car rock back and forth..
mbar: exactly.. kids grow outta things … i mean even when kids join daycare or kindergarden.. they are open to a diff kinda environment and they start to like diff kinda things… to think your kid will go gay or be girly at such a young age… men need to be slapped.
I don’t think it matters that much when they’re young, their tastes evolve…when my older nephew was little he loved to go through my makeup bag and look at all the perfume bottles and stuff on my dresser…now I can’t even take them to Barbie section fo Toys r US without them yelling “NO WE DONT WANT BARBIES!”
:hinna:

^heheeh this reminds me how my oldest nephew loved the jewelry and girly lehngas.. in fact lots of my cousins got married while he was 3-5 years old and we have a lot of girls in the family so he loved it all.. I remember him making rings out of the beads on the floor that he found at the shop where I bought my wedding lehnga from..he loved to wear churiyan and my sister/bil could care less.
We even dressed him up in lehnga, dupatta, put on nail polish etc at my cousins mehndi and he was soooo excited to be a part of it.. my bil jokingly said, “if my boy turned out to be gay, I will know who to blame”
and now he thinks even the color pink is ewwwwww and for girls only
they grow out of it.. they really do no matter what you do to them
My daughters hardly plays with her dolls, kitchen, tea set etc but most of the time she is playing with big-brother’s Tools, police set, soccer ball, basket ball, Transformers, bakugans and what not. She loves wearing brother’s shirt, shoes and ride boy’s bike and on top of it she announces it to everyone “loook looooook, I m wearing ******'s shirt, it looks so cool”
We dont have any problem with it.
PS: as per my wife, aap ko bara shauq hai dolls laney ka. Appney office main saja leen. Waste of money jub wo khailtee hee nahi. Uss ko bhee transformers hee la deya karen…
