The Lungi

The lungi, also known as a sarong or dhoti , is a garment worn around the waist in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar (formerly Burma), Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Horn of Africa and the southern Arabian Peninsula . It is particularly popular in regions where the heat and humidity create an unpleasant climate for trousers.

In Pakistan, the lungi is almost a traditional thing especially in the Punjab.
Lungis are worn all throughout the Punjab mostly during night time in the villages of Punjab where due to the hot weather men wear lungis and sleep on Charpoys. For men it can also be classed as something worn at home during the evening.
Lungis are also popular amongst women where many bear a certain type of embroidery or pattern.
Lungis are also very popular in the province of Sindh among both, men and women

How many of the men (or women) around here wear the lungi on a daily basis or for certain activities (sleeping, strolling..)?

Re: The Lungi

I am from south India. I do not wear lungi regularly, but once in a week.

Re: The Lungi

I wrap my bath towel around my waist after I am done with my shower. Can that be called lungi?

Is there some event in your life that is connected to a bathroom by any chance?

Re: The Lungi

My everyday is connected to a bathroom.

Re: The Lungi

What a hideous piece of clothing (just like any male Desi clothing).

Nobody is urban parts of Pakistan wears it anymore.

I've only really seen Hare-Krishna's wearing them in London.
