piglets are cute and Allah made them.
If Hareem gives it her stamp of approval - then I declare it's okay!!!!! :)

Re: The love of PIGS
afro and deeba - you need some Islamic beatings! - hehe
Ever since I was a kid I was surrounded with messages that pigs are the only thing we AVOID.
It was always understood that it may mean, either a piggie bank, stuffed piggie animal, etc.. except a cartoon character.. i mean it's okay to watch... hehe
so i just avoided... no big deal. ... and besides there are plenty of things out there that you can have as pet... so I never indulged in thinking why oh why?
Re: The love of PIGS
NJMasti your funny...
but what's the big deal in a pig shaped piggy bank with coins that teaches counting/letters and songs. And please for anyone that ask why not so many other toys to teach same thing....too late already bought it
Re: The love of PIGS
when i was in grade three, there was this book "Peter and Jane" in my english syllabus.
in this book, an entire page and also i think its main cover, was covered with the pigs in some english farms.
so our teacher made all of us cover it or do something with that image that we dont get to see them again.
at that time i didnt know the reasoning behind that activity, but that therapy actually worked out.
i researched it myself the significance of pigs in Islam through that activity.
so dont just ban things on your children, instead stop them in a way that they asks u questions cuz in that way they will find out more about Islam, and also in the same way they will always be your obedient children.
Re: The love of PIGS
Afro - It's not that we are not allowed to have PIGGIE banks.
If you know Islam, we are NOT allowed to have ANY thing in OUR homes that has a FACE / PICTURE etc.
So even if you have a "halal bakrah" for a piggie bank - it's NOT allowed.
u know wht i'm saying :)
Re: The love of PIGS
im curious zobia, what is the significance of pigs in islam besides them being ruled to be unfit for eating unless there is no other survival option?
Re: The love of PIGS
I think this question is heading towards religious forum! :) and not PARENTING anymore.
If Hareem gives it her stamp of approval - then I declare it's okay!!!!! :)
lol...I'm nowhere near an authority to give any sort of approval or disapproval. I believe pigs are Allah's creation, very close to humans and very beneficial for our world. We as muslims can't eat their meat but we have to be merciful to all the animals including pigs. I think the hatred towards pigs and Jews is made up by some "religious" figures just for the sake of hatred.
Oh and I also like those piggi banks.
Re: The love of PIGS
oh boy......NJMASTi gulp....guilty face for all the stuffed animals i still have, and for my son........hehe
And people call me the female mullah:halo:…lolz

I was just joking. But you are pretty frikin knowledable so lets give credit where it's due.
Re: The love of PIGS
We are mullah and anti mullahs in our own way :)
Re: The love of PIGS
^lol...Alhamdulilah (All praise to Allah). I'm not really as knowledgeable and experienced as you guys are. Lets get back to the topic.
Re: The love of PIGS
So yeah, for fear of moving this cool thread to religion lemme steer back toward the main topic
.
How do you instill an anti pig logic in a young child without having them hate the animal?
Re: The love of PIGS
*'oh boy......NJMASTi *gulp....guilty face for all the stuffed animals i still have, and for my son........hehe'

...and me Afro-Sheen (and prob 99.9% of Muslims) for all my teddy bears and fluffy bunny rabbits, family photos, newspapers and magazines...
I would have thought the child would grow out of the ‘pig phase’ naturally unless they start spending loads of time down the local farm or something. Might be replaced with a lot of affection for dogs instead tho as they grow up lol, I think once an animal lover always an animal lover (like me), I can’t imagine ever living without a pet, they’re so loving and loyal :).
Re: The love of PIGS
We love animals in our home as well. In fact my husband is very serious about getting a dog when we move to a bigger place.
Re: The love of PIGS
^oh no!
Personally I like ALL animals as long as they are on screen!
I do not like any pet / animals / birds / fish / plants - ANYTHING other than humans breathing in my house!
I am very strict about it too - lol
My daughter wants a gold fish… but this mommy ain’t cleaning pet stuff!
as a worrisome Maulvi would say: LA HOL WA LA KUVAT! ![]()
Re: The love of PIGS
My house is already a zoo and it only houses humans. :hinna:
Re: The love of PIGS
hahah!
We’ve had fish in the past and while they look lovely, it’s a lot of work cleaning out the tank and all.
So is taking care of a dog. Yaah. :hinna:
