The LONG WALK…
Won’t you take my hand
And walk with me a while
For I love our conversations
And the way you make me smile
You take my hand and walk with me
Down an autumn trail
And we talk of how our lives have changed
As the falling leaves set sail
I listen to you talking
And while thinking on your words
Compare the sweetness of your voice
With the singing of the birds
We talk of friends and family
And laugh at stories that we share
So much I long to tell you
But I think I shall not dare
I pick a flower for you
And notice all the while
How beautiful you are standing there
As you accept it with a smile
We walk along a stream
As the rain begins to fall
We dash inside a covered bridge
And stand soaked beside the wall
Your body there so close to me
Your breath upon my cheek
No longer can I keep contained
The words my heart must speak
I’ve loved you for the longest time
Afraid to let it show
You pull me close and kiss me
And say yes my love….I know.
