Re: The List of DEAD GODS

Re: The List of DEAD GODS
What’s the point of this thread? and Homer was never considered a god.
Re: The List of DEAD GODS
Please read the article well, some were worshiped as gods and some claimed themselves to be gods but this article presents " are these people worthy to be gods"
Hope you got it!
Re: The List of DEAD GODS
Well Homer wasn’t worshipped as god nor he himself ever claimed to be a god. He’s an author and poet.

this link may help you to study more about Homer http://athome.harvard.edu/programs/nagy/threads/concept/hero_cults.html

^ Peace khilafat
hareem01 is absolutely right … Homer is the author of the various myths and legends not one of the candidates in his own stories … He never claimed to be a god or a deity. And the link you gave does not show that either … the Homer hero cult worshipped the taghuts in his stories, e.g. Athene, Zeus, Poseidon, Achillies, Perseus, etc … they didn’t worship him. The khilfat website needs to be edited … A correction is in order or else the credibility of it will fail.
Re: The List of DEAD GODS
Khialfat, do you consider Jesus (as) a dead God? Thats news to me.
Re: The List of DEAD GODS
Dear Brother, din’t you read the description? I have added a note saying Islam consider Jesus as only a Messenger and Human being, the dead god concept is added in Christian point of view!
Re: The List of DEAD GODS
Thank you for your comment, the list prepared as mentioned in Wikipedia, take a look at this list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_who_have_been_considered_deities
Re: The List of DEAD GODS
You misunderstood my question. Muslims don’t consider any of the listed persons as God. My question is: do you consider Jesus(as) as dead since Jesus(as) is listed under ‘List of dead Gods’?
Re: The List of DEAD GODS

Yes you are right
… I didn’t know that! … They set up a shrine for venerating him as the source of poetry linking to Oceanus the Titan son of Gaia … The hero cults treated their ‘hero’ as more than man but less than a god - Would that be similar to avatar in some Hindu sects, because others say they were exact manifestations of God, yet others say they were demi-gods. However all in all yes I agree after the shrine for homer was built people started to give him a power that he did not have and that is technically shirk.
