another thread prompted me to post this.
so some couples cant have kids at all… wat abt those who are blessed with one child only?
i feel so guilty sometimes cuz my son is gonna grow up all alone. i had like 8 siblings to grow up with so i feel really bad for my son. he’s gonna miss out on all da fun i had and da closeness shared with siblings. yes he hav cuzins and friends but it cant be da same as having ur own bro/sis living and growing up together.
anyone with first-hand experiences of being an only child?

my cousin is an only child. but mashallah she is an outgoing person, so she had lots of friends. and ofcourse family, but since she spent her life in Canada...the interaction wasn't there unless she went back.
but she does mention that she sometimes did wish that she had a younger sibling, or an older sibling, that would interact with her in the ideal manner that the you expect siblings to be like. i found it interesting...the fact that it had to be the ideal. not the whole fighting and yelling and screaming part :p

well, i dont have my personal experience of being an only child ( have got two irksome younger ones 
but i think being an only child woudn’t be all that fun…becaue you need to have somebody to bug and who nags you back…but i have seen a few such kids and they were pretty much okay with the fact of being alone..i have even seen this person who was happy not to have any siblings because then QUOTE: “THEY WOULD BUG ME ALL THE TIME AND I LIKE TO STAY ALONE WITHOUT ANYBODY DISTURBING OR BOTHERING ME”… so you know, it all depends upon the person itself that how (s)he faces the fact of being the only kiddo…(s)he can like it or dislike it…

If you are to blessed with one child, there are just as many plusses for parents and the child as there are minuses. Yes, the child misses out on having siblings but there will be no sibling rivalry. The child will be secure with the exclusive love of the parents, no having to share their love with the siblings. The parents will have more ability to focus on that child, the education, the purchasing of special things. There is good and bad to any situation so when you think you have lemons, make it into lemonade as they say.

i was juz asking my 5 yrs old son abt him being an only child.... and he said he'll pray to Allah(swt) for a bro/sis :D
lets hope he takes his situation positively in da future too

Maybe they got like that because they are nly children?
I've been pretty much alone for a loooooong time. High school years were very lonely. lately i've started tor ealize, maybe if i'd had more brothers and sisters , would I be the way I am? would i be such an "alone" person? Would I be more social and outgoing and confident if i had more ppl to look up to and looked up to me? Sochnay wali baat ..

nstar777: i have a medical condition, nothin is impossible with the current medical advancements but at da end of da day it's god's will.
yes nia, i believe in miracles and i believe wateva happens, happens for a gud reason. in fact before i had my son my gynea was convinced i cudnt conceive :D i neva let that silly gynea get me down, and now i have a walking talking miracle by my side, my lil boy.
sara u'd be surprised at da number of lonely ppl out there! maybe being lonely made u look at how "unlonely" others are?
i think everyone feels lonely sometimes, i mean its impossible to hav another human being understand u 100% rite? so those times when no one understands u, tats really lonely.
