He is a leader elected as unopposed chairman by the PPP central executive committee .

Dont you find that worrying Pasha Saheb? Shouldnt a seious and professional party like PPP elect leaders on basis of merit and not lineage?

Woh ZAB ka nawasa aur Benazir ka beta hay, and thats all it took?

Does not that diminish PPPs status as a serious and professional party? Kya PPP Bhutto/Zardari ki jageer hay, jis ko chaha chairman bana diya? If I was a PPP supporter I would be very worried and dissatisfied with such an election process. No, I would be appalled to be honest.

Dear Balthier... there are people who believe in 'family gene' over other values/merit/credibility. If one in a family showed leadership skill then their whole family becomes leadership capable, hence the family of founding leader is always going to be the preferred choice for them.... hence the PPP you see today.

One reason he doesn't have credibility for me is...every time he opens his mouth...he makes me laugh....coz he reads roman Urdu off a paper for his speeches :/

If PPP supporters follow him hes genuine leader! What has merit to do with it? Political parties in Pakistan haven't evolved to such an esteem western democracy level yet..personality and dynastic politics do have romance here.. even in West Kennedy dynasty, Bush Dunanty, In England Cameron brothers etc. check PML-N selection, MQM Altaf calibre, PTIs selection of Shah Mehmood, Jahangir Tareen or Azam Sawati (who bargained with positions while joining PTI

How he speaks or his ability to speak Urdu shouldn't really matter for a leader in Pakistan. 90% of people in Pakistan do not consider Urdu as their mother tongue anyways.

The OP has raised the question of his qualification as a leader. What exactly has he done for PPP (forget Pakistan) to deserve to be the leader of people like Aitezaz Ahsen and several others who have struggled, faced imprisonments and spent all their life for promoting the party?

This is the sad state of our country. We cannot even question the merit!!! Being born in a particular family is enough.

The examples you gave from western countries, they all started their political careers from grassroots and were not appointed to high offices through a will.
